EVO X coming to Canada!
EVO X coming to Canada!
Hey everyone I just thought that I would bring this to some of your attentions.I talked to a guy at platinum mitsubishi here in calgary and he was saying that they are already taking orders for the evo x that is going to be released here in canada in the fall of 2007.They have already pre-sold 9 of them and he was saying that there are going to be a limited number made.He said that you can reserve one for $1000 down. Not sure if any of you would be interested but i'm going to go down in January and put my deposit down on one. There have been no prices or really any specs released to the dealer yet so it's still kind of up in the air as to how much it will cost and what not.Just thought I'd give some of you a heads up!

yeah that's what the guy told me as well. That's actually how I found out about the X coming here,I e-mailed him and asked him why we can't get the 9's here and he said don't worry about the 9 because the X is being released in the fall.I'm just curious as to what the price tag will be on it.
The previous gen EVO's didnt pass Canada's 8kph crash test, that why they were not sold in CAN, there are many rumors out there about that but im pretty sure this one is correct.
On topic: 2008/9 EVO X will be in my driveway!!! Can't wait for this car, if they can keep the weight/price down this car will be one of the best cars on road

Yes this is correct, only reason that the previous Gen EVO's did not come to Canada is the 8KM/h Crash test, in the US passing grade is 5KM/h..
lol, the evo 8-9 couldnt come to canada due to a front end crash test. The car was built with no inner cash bar in the front bumper, and at 5 kms an hour the front mount would dent slightly, making it an insrance risk and therefore deemed illegal.. i worked as the parts guy at westside mits in edmonton for a year so trust me on this one
as for the evo x, there is NO WAY that platinum will egt 9 in 07, and i seriously would second guess some cracker salesman saying **** like this. If you did a little research, its only been 8 days since the president of mitsubishi canada officially announced the car was being made eligable for canadian markets.
The car will be a stepped up version, much due to the new design, but also due to the ralliart turbo AWD version thatwill be avaliable next spring in canada, this vehicle will boast a 240 hp turbo awd set up comperable to the impreza wrx. That car is expected to start at 32,000 canadian, with the evo to be marketed directly against the sti...so expect upwards of 50,000 to be a starting point. The evo x itsself should come in anywhere between 300 and 340 hp stock. Also the one thing i want the most is the f-1 padel shifting on the 6 speed, that will be sick for street racing
I myself have been waiting for this car for over a year, i owned a ralliart before the saturn and was a member of a large lancer organization in alberta, all of us are excited for this car. Im definately buyingg one, no matter how many kidneys ill have to sell on the black market to get it.

Thank You,
this is the email I received from the sales manager.
i just called blaine, he is the sales manager at the burnaby dealer. He said that the cars will be sparse, and even in vancouver 4-5 for the first year per dealer is what they are expecting... kinda like the sky rl.

that sucks but oh well if I don't get one I'll just use the 1000 bucks to throw into the cobalt or get something else.I need a four door so it would most likely end up being something else like an srt8 charger.

I know it's not about looks, but a good-looking car with the power to back it up isn't a bad thing. It shouldn't have to look ugly to be fast. This one looks weird. It's almost so ugly that you can't stop looking at it.
This car looks amazing IMO. The fog lights looked chopped on the front pic and I think the interior will change somewhat in the production version.

The side pic makes it look like an RX-8 and the back looks like a new Lincoln-Mazda mix. Mitsubishi took a lot of cues from other companies.
Those seats cannot possibly be comfortable. Where's the head unit? That shifter is huge! The only things I like on the inside are the doors, the pedals, and the steering wheel.
