Fuel economy, Stg 2, Hwy drive.

Well for some reason cannot post in General Canadian

Well I drove to Three Hills and back today. 624.9 kms door to door. Soon as I got on the highway, got an oil patcher doing 150 for the first 50 kms. Good start. Dangit he turned off and forced me to start my own train, set cruise at 140 for the next 175kms till I hit the 2 lane and then off and on as I passed semis and slow people. (noone played follow)

Avg speed 137, 7.6L/100 or 30.9mpg.

On the way back was less traffic on the 2 lane kept a steady 140 most of the 80 kms. Back onto #1 got surprised by a Neon 2.0sx? Flew by me at perhaps 170. After the stunned look on my face wore off, I was pleasantly surprised by a new lead doing 160. Pulled along with him and a Celica GT pulled in behind me. Got a good 75 kms down before the Celica turned off and the truck got away as I wasn't going to speed thru Brooks at 40 over. Set cruise at 140 again and a Minivan tried to play keep up for awhile, but gave up eventually.

Final Avg speed 128, 8.2L/100 or 28.7mpg

The things I noticed is that the overall average MPG is better by a few mpg for me with substantially higher speeds at random intervals. The first part of the trip was down 3mpg but my avg. speed was up about 10kms/hr.

Anyway, was an enjoyable drive.

btw there war a 40km stretch of 80 road construction on the way back, and the double the fines signs did their job and I kept it real close to 80 in that stretch.

yak yak yak ...

man you speed! I am too chicken to go over 120km/h for any length of time anyhow.

Very nice mpg for your mods and high speeds.

Hehe, It was the first road trip with the stage kit, wanted to get a good idea of how bad the mileage would be. I was real surprised it was so good. I dont speed like that all the time I get chicken too especially flying along solo!

I got 35.4 mpg doing 60mph on day with my stage 2. That's pretty damn good to me.
