New Owner from Red Deer!!
Hey everyone!
Name's Rob
Just bought my new Cobalt SS S/C September 15, 06 from Devon Chevrolet. Thanks again to Terry up there and Shawn for helping me out. I'd highly recommend them to anyone
Anyways my car is red with red inserts and black rims with winter tires (for now obviously)
It's the only red one in town which is nice. If anyone is gonna be around or wants to meet up let me know!

Welcome to the forum Rob!For the cold air intake I would recommend the injen intake, that's the one that I have and I think it was worth getting. Some people said that they liked the AEM intake so I guess that one's pretty good to.Depends on how much you want to spend really.
Welcome to the site. Everybody argues about the intake thing but just get the one that tickles your fancy. Don't get hung up on how much HP injen, AEM, or K&N says that theirs make. They are all the same overall and good for about 5whp. Anyone who says different is lying to you. I went with the K&N because of their reputation, good experience in the past, the price was cheaper than injen, I didn't want a shiny intake (the K&N is grey) and it was one piece as opposed to two or three pieces. Also, this is probably your next question but no I have not had any CELs at all.
Hey thanks everyone!
Ya, RJSS, that was my next question lol
I like the looks of the shiny Injen CAI... has anyone else had problems with check engine lights with the Injen ???

Welcome! I actually may be in Red Deer today, not 100% tho, depends on the ex if shes willing to drive a bit to meet me part way for the kid transfer.
On the intake, my cel came on after a long trip at -30 stayed on for 2 days then went away again. Only 2x since Ive gotten it. Easy install.

It seems that the CEL thing was really an issue and tons of threads came up about it when these intakes first came out, but has really died down on the forum since. It's probably related to the fact that a new reflash for a rough idle and CEL came out a little while ago. I was proactive about it and went to the dealership with the GM bulletin printout and they gave me the reflash (after much gnashing of teeth) even though I had no CEL. Bastards. Anyways yours probably got it from the factory so you should be able to get any CAI with no problems. Good luck.
From what I have heard, over oiling was the cause of a lot of people's problems. If you get the K&N kit, the filter comes pre-oiled so its not really an issue. However, since I don't trust myself, when it comes time to re-oil and clean the filter I am definitely going to switch it out for the AEM dryflow. The peace of mind will be worth it to me.

its not a knock on oiled filters.
companys like K&N have been doing good things for performance for many many years.
its just that this car is VERY picky about its MAF sensor. and it REALLY doesnt like oil.
Good call on the AEM dryflow. If your worried about CEL's, the dryflow is the best choice on the market.
