OFFICIAL Western Canada 2009 Cobalt Meet Thread

Well everyone! It is time to start a new thread for the 2009 Western Canada Cobalt Meet!! Last year was a great success!! We had close to 40 cars and I am hoping to have more then that show this year!

This thread will have all the information for the meet, so I will be continually updating the first post with information for the meet. Make sure to check back often!!

This year I would like to have the meet more central to Alberta. So I was thinking in Edmonton would be a great place to do it. I know it will be a longer drive for some people, but it will be shorter for others. So I figure that is a pretty fair compromise. Also there are lots of campgrounds around the city so that those who want to camp like last year can get it set up.

Again like last year for every major city or province (depending on how many people are coming from a place), I would like someone to be the leader from there. What I would like is someone who is willing to commit to the meet and who will without question be coming to the meet. But make sure to have a solid backup just in case you are not able to come.

As for a date for the meet, I have not decided yet. But I will more then likely make a thread with a poll so as that everyone can decide when would be best for them. If it is too close to call after the poll, I will be making the final decision.

So post any ideas in this thread and I hope to see lots of people from last years meet, and of course more new people!!

WICKED I'm totally stoaked and looking forward to this I would almost suggest out side of edmonton like Leduc or Sherwood park to avoid us Calgary folk getting lost :P I've been lost too damn many times in that back-ass-wards city :P

I am in again for sure providing my schedule works out well. I think Edmonton is a good choice (although a pretty long drive for us from Sask and Manitoba). I think it would be sweet if we could get a track or something for part of the day! That could be fun.

I totally agree we should see if there is a way that we could talk to the Castrol SpeedWay - Maybe one of the Edmonton guys with some good connections could ask around - I'm sure if we get a dedicated commitment from 40 cars at like the Calgary Secret Streets at race city which are 25 / person thats all profit for them

Something to check into anyway.

We could also try to find a weekend with an autocross event! That would be cool. As much as I like going in a straight line, corners are soo much better!

I'd commit to being a Calgary "leader" for the cruise up. I will definately be going 100%, soon as i get a day for the meet I'll book it off work. I'm 100% in agreement we should try and do it on a weekend when there is an auto-x event or try to get some time on the track up there.

Well we certainly have time to try and see what we can organize and to see what is planned. We need to pick a day first though.

I just moved to Sherwood Park from out east, but I'm definitely in. We had some pretty good meets back home, and I figure if anything, it'll be a great way to meet new people around here. Sign the cheque....I'm in.

Sounds like a good idea Matt. Once I get back home from my vacation in the next week or so I will check out some good dates for the meet and go from there.
