ummmm

what makes you think criminals, and insane people like this give a **** about gun laws.....?
the only people that gun laws stop from having guns, are law abiding citizens looking to protect themselves.

get your heads out of the sand.
the only armed people in canada, are police, and CRIMINALS.

if you think thats a good thing, you need to think harder.

Is there a reason you're so hostile? I would be more inclined to agree with you if you didn't sound like you wanted to go out and shoot people who you didn't like. Calm down; it's just a debate. People with problems have constitutional rights to weapons. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't have other restrictions placed upon them. Still, it's terrible what happened in this case.

Ive watched what gun laws can do first hand.

Australia used to be quite open on gun ownership.
until quite a few years ago some retard went ballistic, and shot 27 people (including children) on a huge rampage.

the liberals frothed at the mouth until australia implimented some of the strictest gun laws around.
nearly all weapons other than single bolt action rifles for farming reasons were bought back by the government.
Home invasion went up 30%, armed robbery went up over 100%, basically every gun related crime went UP.
why? because the people your trying to stop from having weapons dont care about stupid laws.

Gun laws are idiocy.

What about gun enthusiasts or collectors?

What about avid hunters?

They all have weapons and ammo in their house.....but they do not go around shooting everyone.

If you remove all gun laws, you are allowing everyone to have a gun which is going to do nothing but create more problems and more people shooting them at anything they can think of, even other people. Imagine if you cut some off and they shot you, and people just go "Oh well....he probably deserved it". Or you bump into someone on the street, they turn around and shoot you in the back.

We have gun laws for a reason, and that is to prevent a bigger problem. Yes there are criminals out there that do not give two ***** about any laws, but how are we going to stop them? We can't. They always find a way to break the law and we get incidents like Columbine and Virgina Tech and other mass killings by people who just don't care anymore.

With the original story of this posting, the guy who tried to kill this lady needs to be shot, hung, whatever.....but that is not going to happen here in Canada. And we will probably never see Capital Punishment here in our lifetime. It is just something that we are going to have to live with.

Maybe if everyone is carrying a gun, everyone will be so scared of everyone else that no one will want to risk it.

Most people forget the 21-foot rule. If you are within 21 feet of me and have a gun, it wont make a difference - cuz I can get to your ass faster than you can react, find your peice, unlatch it and draw - then...you are completely screwed :P Good thing I am a nice guy

So you can run 21 feet and disarm me of my gun in less than 3 seconds??? Sometimes closer to 2 seconds depending where I am carrying.

they teach police with speed draw holsters not to get in 21 feet of someone armed with something other than a gun so a concealed holster i think is a little slower to draw

Well, if anyone walks into my house without my permission ,and I feel threatened, it is my right to shoot your ass until you are a mess of pellets.

Even so, id rather deal with all the legal problems than be slain in this world. Nobody has the right to take my life but god (catastrophes)

If you are not expecting it...then yes..I can.

We do these excercises in yearly enforcement training. Experienced officers that carry their firearm in the same place all the time and who are very quick on the draw, still cannot draw and click the hammer when they are suprised - it is a good exercise to teach about proximity and that you should keep your distance when heading into an unfamiliar situation. Action is always faster than reaction - no matter how superhuman people think they are.

Besides...I am way sneakier than that...I would wait until I was less than five feet away before I took you down :P (The flipside to the tactics training is that if you were a bad person, it could make you ito a really really efficient criminal - that's why dirty / corrupt cops scare me a bit)

In 3 seconds, the average person can cover alot of ground - more than 21 feet in most cases (21 feet is an average).

AnOm, this thread has got you really riled up! people are just stating thier opinion, dont get soo hostile towards ppl!

no one can deny that if there was freedom of guns in canada that firearm fatalties would skyrocket. and someone said how robberies would go down cuz ppl would be scared that the ppl they are robbing have a gun, i disagree, i dont think that would scare them at all, thats why they rob, they love that adrenaline rush they get from it. its not like you carry your gun around your house loaded, i bet in alot of cases by the time someone tries to find their gun and load it they would be dead.

ya i do like the law that says that you have the right to beat the hell out of an intruder into your home until they hit the ground so go nuts (oh and no you can't hold the guy up and keep beating him, that would be to easy)

yes. I can, and do deny that.
I saw first hand what happens when you take guns away from legal owners my friend.

gun related crime goes UP. not down.

Gun Control From: Ed Chenel, a police officer in Australia.

I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:

Australia- wide, assaults are up 8.6%;
Australia- wide, armed robberies are up 44% (yes, 44%!)
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300%.
(Note that while the law- abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)

While figures over the previous 25 years show a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break- ins and assaults of the elderly. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in "successfully ridding Australian society of guns."
