Onstar Rates? ~ Canada

Onstar Rates? ~ Canada
Ok, so my Onstar is up in seventeen days.
I like the hands free calling (haven't been able to get the bluetooth which my car is supposed to have to work - not that I personally own a cell phone)... but I can do without it.
I like the monthly emails... but again, I can do without.
I just called Onstar, and was transferred to the sales department, and after politely waiting a spell (listening to sales pitch);
I tried politely spelling out that I felt that $289/year was too much for the service, and was phoning only because I read online that some Americans were getting offered a rate of aprox $10/month.
I was offered $198/year (equates to $16.50/month), I thought for a spell, then asked if I could think about it and call back.
I then did another search via google using the following terms;
canada OR canadian onstar discount
I then found this;
then this;
Onstar discount canada - RedFlagDeals Forums
Have any of you got offered the rates of, or equivalent to $16.50, $13.99, or $9.99??
Please post up with your experience(s) - or anything you might have to offer.

the onstar in our saturn astra expires the end of march.
we had only used very little of the 200mins so i bought an extra 100 for $49.
unknowing to me ,you have to have at least one monthly package(ours was safe and sound) and was $24/month.
i called onstar to cancel and the rep reduced the safe and sound to $13.99 all in from $24.99 and threw in an extra 100 mins.
no code,no coupon ,just a call.
hope this helps someone

I like the hands free phone on OnStar and the fact that it works anywhere via satellite.

that's what receipts are for :P the bluetooth is just paired to my phone using hte instructions in the owners manual.. just click the talk button... say "pair device" or something like that .. then enable bluetooth on the phone and wait for the password to appear on the radio display... then type it in your phone and done

bit the bullet...
they made it sound like they didn't have any other rates at this time...
I figured that even IF I found a better rate, I'd probably have to put more minutes on my hands free calling, which would offset any better "deal" I'd get.
If anyone comes across this thread in the future, and figures out how to really put the squeeze on them, please post up.
