pulley size???
Hey everyone,
I just purchased stage 2 (not installed yet) and I want to improve my performance as much as I can and someone told me that a smaller pulley would help. I don't know much about cars but I was told that if I got too small of a pulley that the supercharger would heat up lots and maybe even cause a decrease in power (I don't know if this is true, it's just what I've been told). What size of pulley would you guys reccommend and where would I buy it? Also, does anyone know where the best place in Edmonton would be to get the stage 2 installed??
Thanks for the help.

Get a downpipe, or header! Dropping pulley sizes is good but it also generates heat, and you won't get the most out of it without tuning!
I did a full exhaust.... header, downpipe, magnaflow and gained about 30 hp and 15 ft.lbs!
But you can drop to a 2.9 pulley safely without tunning anything under that is pushing the limits on the Stage 2 tune!

3.00" to you can safely drop to a 2.90" I ran a 2.85" for awhile before I was tuned, but it was really PUSHING the limits of everything!

In all actually even dropping to a 2.9 is bad as it causes knock and the ecu pulls timing to save the motor which lowers power. So in reality dropping to 2.9 while it is close to maxing the IDC for the injectors is not safe as it causes knock. The best bet is to get a cobra heat exchanger and or dual end pass option b or meth injection.
I have a thread on this https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l-lsj-performance-tech-47/observations-smaller-pulleys-per-me-99497/ check it out.

Uh, not really hommie! I know quite a few 2.9 pulley cars that are just fine! Every car is different... the 2.9 doesn't max out the injectors... the injectors are at 100% on the stage 2 tune man! The IDC is not what kills these injectors!
lol u got in here just barely in time...

Oh, Area had fun tuning my car for the 2.85" it was really pushing the limits... until I did the full exhaust... then she settled back down... But yes the MPH has nothing to do with the AFR? Now the higher up the power band you go I can see...
I know I know... the know it alls are starting to show up!

That is the power band... nothing to do with your mph... The same thing will happen at say 80 in 3rd gear! You are maxing out your injectors, and your AFR starts to suffer! Get your self some meth injection that'll cure that problem!
not mine does it only top end...had a run vs a zzp s3 cobalt, and i held it off by half car till 110 or so,and thats when he started pullin on me..my injectors arent deleiverin enought fuel top end..they get tired
yea but that shouldnt happen only over 100mph...it should happen in first gear at 6k rpm (if thats where u problem is) do u have any logs?
No I was not refering to 2.9 being bad for the injectors I'm refering to the knock it causes.
Now mind you I'm right at sea level so those higher up may not see what I see.
I've seen upwards of point 7 degrees timing pulled due to knock in a thrid gear pull consecutively with 93 octane pump gas. This is with just stage 2 and 2.9 no cooling mods no intake or exhaust work. This is a common setup many people here have. So I'm warning that if you want to drop pulleys sizes with out exhaust or cooling mods you'll effectively be slower than stage 2.
