Well... I think I'm gonna pull an An0malous...
I'm done with CSS for a while.... too many idiots who like to argue in the tech section.

FYI... PM me or email me if something is happening, cause I probably won't get on to the forum much anymore.

Here's a thought, stay out of the other sections. I do, lol. I seriously only come on here to check out this section.

On another note, the strangeness continues with my friggin wheels. On Tuesday night, noticed my rear left wheel area making a strange sound as if it was knocking on rotation. So I get my buddy to drive past me so i can have a look, and sure enough, my wheel is wobbling a bit....wtf? And wouldn't you know it, i was able to remove 2 nuts with my finger tips, and wiggle a 3rd. Are you ******* kidding me? How do I go from snapping studs, to having them literally just spinning themselves off? I double checked the torque on the other 3 wheels afterwards and they were all to spec. This car boggles my mind.

Now Brock can correct me if i'm wrong (cause this is his cup of tea) but a couple Sherwood mechanics said that aftermarket wheels usually require a different torque than the stock 18" wheels. Not sure as to why but might not hurt to call a tire shop and ask. Just my $.02

no aftermarket wheels get torqued to the factory specs. nothing special. wheels do fall off, and studs do break. it is just part of the game.

As far as I have it figured (from a design perspective), the torque rating would be determined by the wheel material.... ie; steel wheels get torqued higher than aluminum wheels.
But, considering that the OEM wheels are aluminum, as are most aftermarket wheels, they should be torqued to the same spec (as Brock mentioned).

is it possible that the lugs are just slightly too short thus not completely setting against the wheel? I know when I put my winter steelies on I have to go to a set of lugs that have longer threads. Not sure if this applies to the cobalt though.

I think for some wheels you need a different nut because the taper is a different angle that meets up with the wheel i dunno bout this i could be wrong

you are definately correct. not all wheels need new lug nuts, but most do.

Woooo
Thursday works for me.

On a side note... holy crap does tuning ever help fuel economy.... wow...

3hr trip to my parents on Friday... I averaged 39 miles per imperial gallon... at 140km/h.
The trip back was 42 miles per imperial gallon... at 120km/h.

Very impressed!

My problems with studs/nuts has only been this summer. Last summer I never had a single issue.
