SS/SC Brakes and Rotors
SS/SC Brakes and Rotors
Ok so I got a question to ask you peeps...
So I took my car in to **** to get my brakes looked at as they were starting to squeal they told me that the pads are shot (figured since it was starting to squeal) and the rotors couldn't be machined due to the wear on them...
Then they told me the price to replace the front 2... $650! Now I havent had to do a break job on a new car before (all my old ones were cheap pieces and well it would cost me like 200 tops on them) does this not sound a bit expensive?
Any suggestions on how to work around this and not void my lease for getting it serviced else where? Would there be a problem if I was to buy through a vendor on here and have it installed by a liscensed GM Tech?
Help as always is appreciated

Holy crap!
Yeah brakes are hella easy to do, pads, rotors, lines, and bleeding. you can do it ur self, wont cost u and arm and leg, i dont see how the hella it would void warranty unless you dont do it correctly but hey.
Check out hayes and/or chilton i believe is how they are spelled they have out completed maintenance and tear down manuals.
for cheap stock replacment rotors check out:

or most of any of the vendors on here are kewl just depends on if you want stock replacement, drilled slotted rotors or wutev.
Same goes for pads I run EBCs personally but ive heard Hawks are good.
Like i ced depends on wut u want stock replacement go to dealer, auto store, or some vendors. Aftermarket shop around but if your worried bout warranty try crate engine or a dealer that carries oem parts like them.

wow...600 for the front 2? thats bs. I paid $700 shipped for 4 slotted rotors, i think 6 stainless steel braided brake lines, performance brake fluid and Hawk HPS pads for all brakes from TH Motorsports. And boy did that kit make a huge difference in stopping power.
james keep in mind that dealer pricing on rotors are a lil more expensive then the aftermarket ones. and the pads i know are in line with everything else. and are you sure they didn't add in the cost to fix the flopping window in that quote lol
