Time Attack @ Stratotech

Ok ladies and gents. June 7th is the next Time Attack Race at Stratotech in Fort Sask. I just took the Z out for the first time and boy is that ******* awesome. 1000x better, fun, adrenaline rush then drag racing. 1st race i got 5 laps in, almost lost control 3 times...(took one turn to fast and then half way through another turn i hit the gas to hard and the last one was i braked to late) I went against a honda civic, evo and a few other cars. I beat a evo 2 times...i was shocked at that. Got my ass spanked by a Z06 vette..lol

But yea, we gotta get more guys out there. Its $80 for the night, you get 3-4 races and about 5-6 laps per race. Each lap is a avg. of 70secs long. Totally worth the 80 bucks. Whos interested. Gotta pre-register, might get lucky like i did tonight, there was a few drop outs so i got their spot.

I'll let you know here within a week as to a time line. I am trying to find a second job so I can fork all the money from that job into my car.

you dont need to fork out all your money. Just tires..lol. Although i do, a oil cooler is a must for me since my car goes into limp mode on lap 4 out of 6. What mods do you have?

Also registration is open for the next session (June 7th) limited spots are available so get them soon, you can register here.

Nothing at the moment but a downpipe. But I have money aside, just not going to touch it until I have a place here in Spruce Grove.

But what it will be is Intake, charge piping, 3" catback, intercooler, stage 1 + tune.

Well if you plan on getting into road racing, especially at stratotech, dont worry to much about power mods, look more into handling. Theres only 2 spots where you can use the power. Longest one being the back stretch. I come out of turn 1 in 2nd gear at 4000-5000rpms, hammer it, shift at 7500rpm and im redlining 3rd by the time i have to brake to get into turn 2.

aggressive right hand turns at 80k or above i get this nasty rubbing noise. i checked to see if there were any rub marks in the wheel wells but nothing and no its not just the turn i've tried it on 4 differen't turns and nothing and doesn't make the noise that i've noticed on left turns just right hand ones.

If its only happening at 80+ kmh you should be fine. Theres no turns at stratotech that comes close to that speed. Turn 1 would be the fastest turn...not sure what speed i take it at cuz i dont look at my speedo, but i do come around the turn in 2nd gear at 5000rpm's. Heres some pics of my car at the race on monday.

Coming out of turn 4 and 5

Entering turn 1

I don't think I'll make it out to any of the events this year. Next season I might get in on an few TA sessions, though.
It's just finding the ambition to drive two hours for a few laps that gets me.

Nothing really, just ones timed and ones not. So the one thats not timed is just at your own pace and good practice for new drivers or new car setups. When it is timed you are competing against other drivers in your class. There are 3 classes which goes by tire tread.

Race Tire = 0 - 139 Treadwear
Modified = 140 - 200 Treadwear
Street = 201 + Treadwear

Obviously if you have a fully modded car that was stock with like 200hp and now has 500+ hp on street tires, you will go to the modified class.

All results go up on the website and at the end of the season there will be a winner for every class, not sure what the prize is. Most likely if you come out your going to get spanked, but who cares...go out, be safe and have fun. I'm hoping ill have my car setup next year and have the expeirence to win. Until then, its all practice. The avg, time to complete a lap on this track is approx. 75 secs.

The best thing for the cobalt in this type of racing and drag racing is you dont have to worry about launching and wheel hop. That being said, theres alot more to consider. For example, IAT2 temps. For something like this you would probably want some cooling mods, more then the H/E...good thing would be meth.

i feel you on that one. 2 hours to pay $80 for approx. 24 laps isnt really worth it in my eyes.

Not sure what he charges, does tuning with HP Tuners. Speaking of tunes thats something i need to do for my car for the track, not so much power but just to extend my rev limit. I hit my rev limit in 2nd gear on a few parts and theres enough time for me to keep going before i have to brake but not even time to **** into 3rd.

Also here is a video i found of the race. You can see my car in the pits at the start and then on turn 1 at 3:21.

Let me know if no one in Edmonton will do it.
I usually don't tune out side of Sask... but there have been a few special cases lately.
