USEFUL INFO FOR SOME: preformance exhaust and stage ii quotes.

i got quotes today from Southgate chevrolet for the GMPP exhaust and stage 2. the exhaust comes in two styles: preformance and touring. the preformance is 589.00 and the touring is 795.00. the stage ii he said was 1100.00 i believe this is all before shipping (if shipping would be nesesary.) and all the quotes are not including installation.....

by the way, the guy told me the differnce between the two exhaust is sound...why is the touring 200.00 more? i didnt ask.

hey apex nice seeing yah there. he happened to pull in right beside me at southgate chevrolet and oddly enough was there to ask the same question as me (prices on stage ii).

heres how it went down, i ordered my stage 2 kit from cobalt addiction , paid 700 shipped CANADIAN, when it got here today (just opened box, mmm i love that plastic smell) i paid 40$ customs fees, so for the kit i paid 740 CANADIAN, i havent herd of anyone getting that price in alberta at the dealerships..... no onto install, many places wanted 500-600$ to install it..... i'm sure i called everywhere, and the best price i found was 300, installed with a new s/c gasket. and that was at saturn saab of calgary (they have done many) so total price of stage 2 was 1040$, including EVERYTHING. most places around here quote that much for the kit alone. i was really hoping i could get chris to do the install at ****, because i really trust that guy (knows his ****) but **** wanted WAY to much, somethin like 118 per hour for 5 hours = 590$

Having witnessed 2 seperate gmpp exhausts on the dyno saturday, you guys need better exhaust than that for sure. Should run 3" on a stg.2 set-up.
The price you guys are talking about is reasonable, but there has to be better out there.?

Yep, Fist thing i noticed on my gmpp exhaust with stage 2 is those little torcite clamps were having a hell of a time holding the pressure.

Try Competition Chev, purchased and installed Stage 2, plus new plugs, plus the 2.85" pulley was done for under 1K on a yellow one when I was buying mine.

Is that a special price because you have a connection there or is that their standard pricing for all? I was going to call the dealership I bought my car at, but I'm thinking I may just go with Devon.

probably cause if dealerships feel they arent making the money off their overpriced stage kits, they might as well screw you on the labor, sadly.

x2, i agree completely, but also if they didnt charge an arm and leg to buy one then they would have alot more business rather then us going to online stores

Yup i agree.

Honestly if i could buy stage2 from crate engine depot $750 shipped, with like $40 custom fees (790-800) and a dealership offered stage 2 for 850-900, i'd probably go dealership. That extra 50-100 isnt going to kill me, i get it right away (or at least sooner) and they can install when it arrives and that way it doesnt give them an excuse to bend me over with no vaseline on labor.

Honestly $105 /hr is ridiculous enough for install so they shouldnt be over charging. Sorta like the guy said it depends how long it takes for them to install my shifter for my car... and told me to drop it off at 10 am and it should be ready at 3pm. Im not goign to pay for more than 1 hr of labor on an install when another shop said they could do it in 30 min and only charge me $45! (Southgate vs Speedtech)

There is a group buy right now for 565 for GM stage II. I also think you can get both exhaust for under 600 from crate engine depo. Check it out man before you get raped unnessasarly.

I got my GM stage II for 500 shipped on another group buy and my touring exhaust for 400 shipped. Installed it myself and saved alot of Cash. 900 bucks for exhaust and stage II. Thats hard to beat. Dealerships will charge you close to 900 just for Stage II and then another 2-300 for install. Just nuts!

I know this thread is for the cost and install of stage 2 from the dealer but i'm going to throw my 2 cents in to try and save you guys some money.
In total to get my stage 2 done I payed a total of just under $500 for everything, now I bought all the parts seperatley like the pulley, injectors, belt and plugs and asked cmp here in calgary to reflash with the stage 2 tune (1 hour labour cost) . If you buy all the parts and then install them yourself you should still get warranty (I am) through the dealership. Save yourself the cost of labour and do it yourself or have someone you know do it. Installing the parts is super easy, if you don't do it yourself and then watch somone do it your going to kick yourself in the ass for paying for labour. I can't say it enough times but it is super easy to install the kit and then get it reflashed. If anyone has any questions on how to install the kit or want someone to install the kit please pm me and i'll help you out.

please ask to read your dealerships parts catalogue.
I say it so much im going to have to go get a photocopy because no one believes me.

If GM installs your stage 2 you get full warranty coverage under your current vehicle warranty.

if you do it yourself your kit only gets 12 months warranty.

I dont understand the point of paying $750 for parts that are worth far less than that, because you want to keep your warranty.

and then cheaping out and avoiding the $250 install cost, and throwing 60% of your possible stage 2 warranty away.

Your not paying the big money for the parts. or the big money for the tough install.
the reason stage 2 is pricey is because you can take it back any time you please and GM will warranty it, while your car is still under warranty.

If you installed it yourself.....14 months down the road if you have a problem GM may just show you the page in the book that im talking about.

interesting......when I asked about warranty they told me "yep full coverage"
but who knows I could have talked to some new guy or something, all I know is that after I was told that I will get full coverage I better get it!

i would consider gettin somethin on paper.
I had them type it onto my stage 2 reciept.

this is not to say all GM dealerships will do it this way
you may have some good guys who are happy to honor it anyway.

im just saying thats what it says in their parts catalogue under the stage 2 kit install.

Good idea, I'll ask them to put that in writing on my reciept when I go and pick it up today.
