car inspections?

Ok so im getting out of the army in 2 months. The my buddy with a Evo works for his dads construction company (Mammoet). I just learned they have a office/contract in Halifax so im debating working for the company there or here. Obviously ill make more money here which will pay my debt off within the next year (car loan and credit card). So im just looking at what has to change on the car if i move back. The law is alot more **** there. And from what i remember you guys got inspections changed to every 2 years, just when i left. Is that correct? Trying to remember what else they were **** about and if anything changed. We dont have inspections here and the cops are relaxed. If you dont act like a retard they wont bother you for tint, exhaust and all that ****.

So i know my test pipe will have to come off and ill need a hfc. My catback is pretty loud and has a large tip so that will most likely have to come off. Was there anything about suspension besides making sure its in working order? Is there anything after market for suspension they nail you on? I know my tint on my front windows will have to come off as well. Is HID's an issue down there?

It all depends where you go for a MVI. One shop could be picky, the next..not so much. HID's are pretty much a no no, unless they are in a factory projector. You need a cat, and "canister" muffler's are not aloud. However your car can be loud as hell, as long as it's a real muffler it will pass. Window tint (front side windows)is not aloud, however some shops turn a blind eye. Also now that I think of it, you MAY get away with your HID's as they do not check lights anymore, it is left up to the owner of the vehicle ( just a cash grab, so you can get a good mvi..and get pulled over and fined in the same day for having burnt out or illegal lights). As for suspension just the normal stuff, ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings etc.

However, I have heard when a car comes from out west..they are really strict on some things. Because you guys have no inspection's out there. So don't be surprised if you are givin a hard time.

Well the car is still new-ish. Car has 21,000kms on (will have a new motor in it) just alot of the **** is considerd illegal since they dont give two ***** up here. But i know the basic **** (tint, cat convertor) will have to be changed. I just dont know how **** it got since i left in 2009. But it is every 2 years for inspection, correct?

Also does anyone know anything about inspections on bikes? I know ill have to change my exhaust since i have no cat on that as well. When i had to do my out of province inspection here they made me remove the integrated tail light. So im assuming ill have to rewire the stock ones up.

Thats good i guess, not really anything i would have to swap out after the inspection on the car. I'm pretty sure my exhaust on the bike will be a no go so ill put the stock one on for inspections but take right off the same day. Sounds amazing, gave me quite abit of power increase and dropped 15-20lbs off the bike.

Why would you want to move back to little old Nova Scotia after being out west ? This province is nice and all. Don't get me wrong. But from some of my friends that have moved out west and then came back. Many of them wish they would have stayed. I assume maybe you have family that lives down here ? Just curious really....

Just make sure hi-beams and low- beams r working properly, replace exhaust, and if the tint is not dark then don't bother removing it...

I'm moving back because i never wanted to move out here. Only reason im out here is because at the time we were the only tank unit in canada. I'm out of the army in 2 months so theres nothing holding me here. The money is the only reason im thinking about staying 1 more year.

I didnt realize hids were a no no. Depends on where you go like said above. Alot of places will inspect anything and just tell you if you get pulled over, you did it after it was inspected.

Safety inspections half the time don't check for lights , they are supposed to be your own responsibility just like how your horn is .

I passed with HIDs a few times now without issue even at the dealership (technically a no-no though..). they just checked that all the lights functioned while i was still sitting in the car and that was it.

When i moved out here i had to remove my gen lights and hid's for the out of province inspection. Had to remove alot of **** that wasnt oem. Thats the only good thing about Alberta, no yearly safety inspections. None the less, the HID's work perfect in the Evo and in my bike. I already sold my testpipe and a few other parts to get ready for the move. I still have the oem catback for the car and exhaust for the bike. I'll strip the tint off once I get down there. Gay ass nightshade is already off my tail lights, dont even know why i did that to be honest, looks alot better the way it came from the dealership...

I need to order up a new o2 sensor and turn those back on. I think thats pretty much it. Only thing im concerned about is the db level of the exhaust. Its not the loudest but would defently fail if they test it. Although im not sure how its gonna sound with a bigger engine, bigger turbo, diferent downpipe and highflow cat.
