High chance of moving back east
So my Warrent Officer came to me tonight and offerd me a posting to Gagetown, NB. Its for a minimum of 4 years, could be 6, 8 but no shorter then 4 years. Now im going to list the pros and cons of this
Pros:
- i get the **** out of edmonton which i hate, and back to the east coast.
- I'll get tons of courses, training and since gagetown is hurting for Master Corprals, ill get my PLQ course and promoted alot faster
-Living is cheaper so i could possibly buy a house with a garage for my bike and car
-only 3 1/2 hrs from halifax...so i could come to PPP nights
-my insurence will drop big time
Cons: I lose my chance of ever going to afghanistan, which means i miss the chance of making $40,000 in 6 months
- i like my unit and the guys i work with so ill lose that.
- i know this is a stupid reason but it comes to play big time..... car inspections, no way my car will pass yearly inspections with the mods i have or will have....in edmonton there is no yearly inspections, u do it when u get the car and thats it.
So im going to tell my WO that ill take the offer, lets hope nothing changes. If nothing changes and i do move, ill be moving back this up coming summer.

I say doooo it. just think of all the money you'll be saving. that ridiculous price you are paying for insurance and rent up there could go to a mortgage on a nice home for you and Florence

Nova Scotia just adopted, well not recently, but recently enough, inpsections once every 2 years. Mine has to go in this week. :S. Unless you buy a brand new vehicle, then you don't have to have it inspected for 3 years after purchase, but any other car falls under a bi-annual inspections. Once every 2 years.

Here's the list of things they look at (taken straight of the inspection sheet - I had one in my car):
- Glass (they check for cracks and what not)
- Horn
- Windshield Wipers
- Rear View Mirrors
- Exhaust System (check for leaks mostly and for a cat - I had a super loud exhaust on my old car and was never failed inspection because of it)
- Body (Check for holes in frame and any panels)
- Lights (make sure all break/turn/headlights work)
- Steering and Suspension (All they're checking here is to make sure that the shocks aren't blown, that bushings aren't worn out, wheels bearings, strut mounts etc... My old car was lowered and I know a crap ton of cars that are lowered that pass every year)
- Wheels and Tires (mostly they check tires here to make sure there's enough tread)
Hope this helps ya, you shouldn't be worried at all... even with Nitrous on there. Just make sure the bottle is un hooked at the time.

Yea think the only thing on the 370Z that would fail is the front window tint, and the bottle, but they are not aloud to look in the trunk of the car i last thoughtand with the tintt you can always try that when you roll up you do it with the windows down and sometimes they wont roll them up lol.
or spend the 100$ and buy a sticker.

Here in N.S. we don't check any lights other then your Daytime Running Lights. The tail light tint will pass. As Pyke said, you can always try rolling your windows down before you come to the garage to try and sneak the front tint through. I know at our garage if the windows are rolled down we usually don't bother putting the windows up to check for tint even if we suspect it.

just curious as to what you Maritimers are paying for insurance? my policy renews itself on feb 22nd. I saw my quote and was so furious that I am now looking for a new company. I asked my broker why my rate hasn't gone down, even though I turned 25 and accident/ticket free. She keeps giving me the same bs story about how Moncton drivers are paying the highest rate in all of NB

Got my inspection done today. THey checked everything. Signal's. High/low beams (With HID's) . Tails, Reverse, wipers, brakes, front end, tires, Basically everything they've always done. Even my fog lights! 30 dollars, that's good for 2 years.
My insurance renewal is March 1st. Got it in the mail. 125 a month, and that's after 1 accident in 2004. also that is full coverage. plpd/comprehensive/collisoin. 500,000 liability.

^^^ you should probably up your liability coverage... 500 000 is peanuts if you hurt someone. its worth paying the extra 25 or so dollars/month to cover your ass from paying hundreds of thousands out if you hit somebody important

Steering & suspension involves everything. Balljoints, inner & outer tie rods, struts, shocks, coil springs, strut mounts, swaybar bushings, swaybar links.
Brakes - wheel bearings, brake pads, rotors, shoes, wheel cylinders, brakelines. And if a car has ABS and the light is on, it fails according to the book.
Tires can't have more than just surface cracking as well as good tread. Good tread is defined as 3/32" or more. 3/32" tread hydroplanes nicely though.

^we pop the hood on the old Dodge Caravans because the strut towers are known for rotting out. But your correct, USUALLY the hood and trunk stay closed for inspection.

Yea, just like pykie said, front window tint, bottle and tinted tail lights. I already fucked my tail lights by trying to take the nightshade off once (went away to dark the first try) so they look like **** without it tinted. Thats the one thing i love about edmonton, no inspections and cops dont bother you for stupid **** like window tint.
I passed the word to my Warrent that i accept the offer. He said ill most likely be leaving in the summer but will try and get me out there sooner if i wanted. I told him the summer will do, i still need to get a few things done to the car and bike before i leave, which is cheaper out here...car needs to be tuned for the nitrous and theres only 2 places in canada that can do it, one is in Ont. the other is 2 hours away from edmonton.
On another note, boy did i have fun today. got some more training on the ski-doos we have....i been on one in my life and it was fun, we went further up the mountain and spent the whole day/night. I got mine up to 100kmh, even though the speed limit was 50 and i was taking nice turns at 80....almost went off the cliff but i hung in there....fun day.
