Hello everyone, I have been lurking around the site for years but felt no need to join as I never had a SS. Well I am FINALLY getting one. Mind you I had to go though a lot to get it (rolled my truck and it was deemed a total loss, AND the sealtbelt took my ear almost off)..thank god for plastic surgery lol.
ANYWAYS, I am from Nova Scotia, Pictou County to be exact. I am picking up a 07 cobalt SS\SC from moncton this week. I look forward to gaining some more knowledge about the cars and to meet some new people!

I don't have a link at the moment, as the dealership took down the add when I told them I am coming up for it tomorrow. I will have some pictures when I get home tomorrow evening.

Well the sales guy said the other guy who had it, had it up to 240-45 on the dyno but he never had a sheet to back that up (of course). I would assume It would need at least a stage 1 for that and at the time I didn't know how to tell the difference. But even if it is stock I don't care. I am not new to the car scene so I would know what is CLOSE to those kind of numbers. I few friends of mine have went to danny at JD racing and I can't say enough good things about him so I plan to slap it on the dyno this spring to kinda give me a idea of where I stand.
When I drove the car I could not get a good enough read on the ole "butt dyno" as they have an unreal amount of snow in moncton and the roads where still wet so all the car wanted to do was spin. But in the city it has very good manners, great even when you are not on it. I am very glad on my decision to get a SS.
And no its though a dealer, he traded it in for a new speed 3 I guess.

i guess if you weren't worried about going fast they would be decent. although rotories engines are known for using oil, they are torqueless. RX8 i raced both on the street and at the track was running 17's in the 1/4 mile lol hell i almost ran over him when doing a pull on the highway and i started in 5th at 70mph.

Well I am just getting home now, it was a DIRTY drive from New Brunswick. It snowed all the way from Amherst to just over mount thom. So far I love the balt, I got home from NB on 17.00 bucks worth of fuel(91oct) and averaged 38.5mpg Cruse set at 105km the whole way. The only thing wrong is it seems the windshield washer pump is not working, a pain in the ass but they are cheap enough I guess. I will have pics tomorrow as it is dark outside now. Oh on a side note it seems on the highway the cobalt is much easier on fuel than my rental 1.4 cruze turbo was. It its defense it did only have 9000km but I could not get a ANY more than 28-29 out of it. I find it always has to down shift to hold its speed etc.

In the end I knew it would have been a dumb choice, so I went with the safe bet with the Balt.

I actually thought it was better in town on fuel than on the highway. It will be the exact opposite for the balt I would imagine. Ether way I like the cruze, I would choose one over a civic any day. But like I said the car was far from being broke in.

true. gas mileage does increase once the breakin period is done.

I have a horribly newb question, is there anything I can look for that will tell me if I have a stage 1 installed? measure the pulley size, different color injectors etc? What kind of boost should I expect?

that sounds great man. I can't wait for the snow to melt either. you do owe me some videos tho! lol
I don't know much about the SS SC, sorry, but I believe the stock boost is around 12 psi (which is a little above 80 kpa if you have a metric gauge) so if it's higher than that, it's not stock.

If your fuel injectors are green, then your stock. The stock pulley is black and pressed on the supercharger snout. An aftermarket pulley is attached to a hub with screws

It's not staged, I'm the old owner. The sales monkey obviously heard me wrong when I said I had it going 245. It's only got a modded intake and the exhaust work. I hope they gave you the 18's along with it.
