quick question

Had a full oil/filter change about a month ago and my oil level is at 59% now. I do ALOT of driving from NB to Halifax and then back to NB. So i can see why my oil level is down low again. Question is can i just add new oil or do i also need a filter change and all that crap. Never had a car long enough to know all about this stuff...lol

I'm pretty sure that % that comes up on your dash is your oil LIFE not oil LEVEL so adding more oil isn't really gonna help all that much. Actually over filling wouldn't be good. You can check the oil level using the dip stick when u pop the hood. But for a pretty high performace car like the ss/sc I'd just change everything every time. I have the ss/tc and change the oil using a premium bosch filter and mobil 1 full-synthetic every 2500 miles or so.

ya that just goes off of how long the engine is running and turns of the cams. so stick with the 5000 miles. or when it gets to like 10% see how black it is and get it changed then. untill then. turn key to run push gas to floor 3 times wait 3 seconds and crank

Are you sure that works. I know it does on other cars, but in ours you just press both the buttons and scroll through until it says reset oil life. Does the "stomp the gas" way work too?

.. i thought it actually measures the break down of the oil, not necissarily how long you've been running? I know short trips will cause it to decrease faster, and longer highway trips will last longer, And driving habbits of coarse.
