I thought I'd stick my neck out and say "Hi" from the Rock.

I live in Nanaimo and bought an '06 Silver Cobalt SS/SC for Father's Day. Absolutely love the car. I had fully intended for the last few years to buy an SRT-4, but the fact that by the time I could afford one they were no longer sold new kept me from grabbing one.

Haven't met many fellow Cobalt owners, and no SS/SC owners (although I know where a yellow one lives, just haven't introduced myself to the owner yet.) Wanted to know how many of us were on the island and if there were ever any meets.

I've got an SS/SC just south of you in DC. That makes two of us on the island now. I know a guy who just bought another SS/SC and am trying to get him involved too. WE're growing quickly Soon we mihgt be able to have our own meets on this side of the strait!

I think I saw your car in Cowichan Bay last weekend. I was passing through and saw a blue SS/SC with a personalized plate that looked something like "DRAK SS"--same colour as you describe yours.

 

I got really drunk when i was young and in the infantry, and somehow ended in Nanimo with some chick (I was on leave in Van) So yes I may not have known it at the time but I WAS ON THE ISLAND

 

Yes the personalized license plate one was me. Once I get my Premium membership signed up I'll post some pics on the net. I've only thrown some decals on the windows right now and done nothing to the powertrain yet but I've got a lot of ideas. Once I get the cash flowing i'll start getting the parts together that I need. I'm not planning anything drastic but enough to oneoff it as my own and take it to shows.

I'm in Nanaimo too, just got my blue ss s/c last friday. Ive been keeping my eye out for other owner's, so far these babies are pretty rare on the Island eh?

I'll go to the mainland meets once I can get the day off work. I work EVERY weekend and if Victory can get his engine worked on and we've got a date I can try to book the day off to get over there. I'd kill to see some of the mods out there.

 

Right now it looks like the engine won't be tuned until the 3rd week in Sept. The car goes in on the 23 of this month for the roll cage and body kit to be fitted and prepped. Paint doesn't happen till right after the car gets tuned. That means first week in October will be the soonest it's ready to show. I am afraid people will stay away then because of the time of the year. As soon as as I have a tracking number for the engine I will set the other parts of the schedule in stone. I will know more in the middle of this week.

I spend most of my weekends out in my Jeep, but I could definitely give up a day of offroading to hook up for a Cobalt meet.

Pretty much as soon as I came on this site and realized how much useful info it had, and the fact that I love my car... I decided to pay for premium membership.

 

How's a saturday in November for a meet sound? Also we should think of a good location as we got people from both ends of the island here.

 

That sounds fine with me. I'm OK with pretty much any Saturday.

As for a where to meet, we can do Nanaimo, or if we find more coming from Victoria, we could do maybe Mill Bay or Duncan. Doesn't matter to me. I'll drive anywhere.

 

my parents own the fountian tire in langford so if u ever need tires go check it out. they got great prices

 

I'm thinking we should wait now that the weather's been horrid over here but how does next Sat. 11th sound to anyone? We'll meet whereever is best based on who says they'll come.
