Feeler Thread: Lease Takeover?

I've been talking with my wife for a while about this now, and we've come to the conclusion where this car is just not suiting our lifestyle... We have a new house that is getting built currently, and I'm thinking more along the lines that a utilitarian vehicle or something AWD for harsh Alberta winters would be better served in our busy lives.

The car is a 2006 Cobalt SS supercharged, Black on Black with Yellow inserts, that I got in September 2005, it is a Four year lease, in which I pay $379 per month.

The GOOD:
The car itself is in Good shape, and is going to hit 25000 kms here pretty soon. Max Kms per year is 24000, so the Kms are well under the limit for now. I opted also for extended warranty.

I've used the vehicle with care, driving back and forth to work, with one long trip from Edmonton to Vancouver in the summertime. It has not been abused, and I have added the GM stage II 3.0 pulley for that extra bit of boost, as well as a K&N Air Filter.

Tires are still in good shape with lots of tread left, And I've added 15% tint for the Rear 3 windows.

The BAD:

The wheels have the chip and bubble effect going against them... I've contemplated stripping them down and polishing instead of getting repaint.

The Front Lip has a small, minor indentation after a run-in during the winter with a Iron rebar from a parking block... needs a little sanding/touchup.

Here is some information about lease Takeovers from the GM Canada Website.

Transferring Your Lease

Q: Can someone take over my lease?

A: Yes, however the new individual must visit a GM Dealer/Retailer, submit a credit application and be approved by GMAC.

Q: Is there a fee to transfer a lease?

A: Yes. A $450 transfer fee (plus taxes) is charged to cover all costs related to lien registrations, credit analysis, document preparation, life/disability cancellations, internal record modifications, mailings and insurance verification.

If someone is wishing to do this deal, I would be willing to front the $450 transfer fee, thus giving you a way into a "New" car essentially $0 down, pending your approval with GMAC.

Pictures of The Cobalt can be found at this address, 2nd page: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...3&id=702900857

Due to it being a Canadian car, I believe this transfer unfortunately is only available to Canadians.

Let me know if anyone is interested!

Thanks,

Sean
