For Sale OH: 2006 Cobalt SS/SC LBM
OH: 2006 Cobalt SS/SC LBM **SOLD**
Hi everyone,
My 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged is up for sale. It has about 63,000 Miles on it right now, but it is my DD so that will slowly climb as I drive to work and commute to school. It's a fun little car but I bought it just needing something to commute to school in. Now that my motorcycles are sold and that money is in savings, it's time to sell this car and get what I really want.
The A/C is ice cold, the heat is hot, everything works. Power windows, MP3/CD player with steering wheel controls, Pioneer premium sound system with 10" stock subwoofer, power sunroof, power mirrors. I bought and installed front and rear black/blue leather SS seats (the car had plain black SS seats before, which I still have if you did not want the blue/black seats). I have been getting 30-31 MPG's on winter blend gas, I was getting 32-33 in the summer. I just had 4 brand new 225/40/18 Kumho Ecsta all season tires put on, they have about 300 miles on them on them right now.
No engine problems at all, it shifts great, the clutch doesn't slip, all gears engage easily. I just replaced the timing chain tensioner (which only involves unscrewing the old one from the back of the block and screwing the new one in) with a newer style that is a stronger single piece instead of the older style that was in the car. I changed the oil at this time, using Mobil1 full synthetic as always. The previous owner had the oil changed every 3-4K miles using Mobil1 full synthetic as well. I also just put on new brakes, using Hawk HPS pads and drilled/slotted rotors on all four wheels. The power steering recall has been done and the front left wheel bearing was replaced under warranty.
I added the exhaust mods when I planned on modding further, but those were the only modifications that the car has ever had. It's never had a pulley or any other engine mods done. It's never been to a track either. Basically what I'm saying is that the car hasn't been beat on.
The car does have a clean title and a clean carfax but it does have some bumps and bruises. When I bought the car, I was told it had been in one minor accident (the previous owner said he hit a hitch on a pickup truck, the front bumper and front lip of the hood show this to be true), but he did not tell me about the curb that he hit. I did not find out about this accident until after I had purchased the car. The rear axle (torsion beam rear suspension) was bent, and I replaced the entire rear assembly (axle, springs, shocks, brakes, wheels hubs, the whole rear axle) with a rear axle from a SS (so the rear brakes are still the larger brakes, ABS is retained, FE5 suspension is retained) with 35K miles on it. I had the car inspected at my local Chevy dealership and everything is perfect now. I would be happy to take you to the dealership or take the car wherever you want to have it checked out before you buy it if you wish. There is a dent in the front bumper that you can see in the pictures (that would be covered by a front plate), also some slight damage to the hood right above the dent int he bumper that you can see. There are 2 dings in the bottom of the passenger door, and a dent in the passenger rear 1/4 panel. There is also damage to the rear bumper right above the exhaust tip from a hitch on a truck. All of these dents are purely cosmetic, and I will have them touched up before the car sells. This all sounds much worse than it really is but I'm not leaving you any surprises. If you have any questions just come and look at the car and see what I'm talking about.
It's Laser Blue Metallic and I just did a full detail on it so the paint looks great, and it has the stock high rise spoiler. The interior is in great shape, no rips/tears or anything in the leather. It does have a few dents outside from the previous owner as I stated, but I've done my best to make it look as good as possible. The car needs some body work right now, I can either get it fixed and raise the price of the car or you can take it as is. The underside is almost completely rust free, both the previous owner and myself always rinsed the underbody after driving in salt. There make be a few spots on the pinch welds here and there but it's pretty clean.
It's mostly stock, but does have CCFL halo projector headlights (I also have the stock headlights). I tinted the tail lights/high mount brake light/marker lights, and installed a stainless steel Vibrant 4-2-1 header/downpipe with a high flow catalytic converter and a stainless steel full Magnaflow catback exhaust system. I have the stock manifold/downpipe, and stock catback as well.
Seeing that the car needs some body work done and NADA book value in "good" condition is $11500, my bottom line price is $9500, $9000 with the stock exhaust. I am not negotiable on the price. For that price you get what you see. No haggling, no BS. If that price isn't right for you, that's fine, you don't have to buy my car. Even needing a little bit of body work, all the other SS's I have seen sell around here have gone for at least $10K, more like $11-13K. If the car doesn't sell before spring, I'll have the body work done, but then my bottom line price goes up. I had it up at $10500 OBO but kept getting lowball offers so I stopped that. What you see is what you get. I have the clean Ohio title in hand, no loans, no liens, no waiting for the title to get mailed to someone. You show up with cash or a cashiers/certified bank check and you go home with a car.
Honestly it's a good car and it's fun to drive. It's just that I "settled" when I bought it (I wanted a WRX at the time) and I've been unhappy with it because it's not what I wanted. I'm selling it to buy a Subaru STi.

NADA book value is 11,550...I stated an asking price and I also stated I'm open to reasonable offers. My car is in good condition. It has a few minor flaws, but nothing severe, which can be seen from the pictures. The rear bumper that was hit by the truck hitch while my car was parked is being replaced. The one on the front bumper is covered by the front plate. I have edited my original post to hopefully clarify that.
If you're not interested in my car, you can refrain from posting in my thread.

For anyone that is interested in the car, we can talk about the price if you would like. I came up with my asking price by looking at what I have seen other comparable Cobalts sell for.

I also am having new tires put on this weekend and the car has almost no underbody rust as it has been washed and garaged by myself and the previous owner after being out in the snow. None of the bodywork that needs to be done is severe.

I saw you CL ad, how many miles on the 328i? I might know someone who's looking, maybe. He's looking for an e46 M3 but not finding anything in his price range. PM me some details and pics if you have them.
Bought 4 new tires, they'll be going on sometime next week. I'm about to go make an appointment with the body shop as well. The more I fix, the higher/less negotiable I'll be on the price. Right now I'm open to offers.
Set of 4 brand new Kumho Ecsta a/s tires are going on this weekend...asking price is still at 10500 but I found a few STi's I want to go check out so I can work on the price with you some.
Would I be better off giving you guys my bottom line and saying that I'm not negotiable on the price? I do have a minimum number that I will take, and of course everyone always shoots a little higher when trying to sell something, but if no BS haggling means a faster sale then I'm all for it.
Might be holding off on selling the car for a while. I could get more money out of demodding it and putting a few hundred into bodywork and then selling the car. I'm not saying it's not for sale anymore, but I'm not looking to give it away just because it needs a little work. I'd rather do the work and reap the benefits.
If someone buys the car before the temperature gets above freezing I'll throw in a free set of vortex generators

Actually I just had the car sitting outside during the ice storm and this is what happened. Unfortunately they melted once I pulled back into the garage but if it's a dealbreaker I'll get the hose out and "reinstall" them.
