Exclamation '08 Cobalt SS/TC 1/4Mile Runs Again (much better too)

Hey everyone, I went to Cayuga again, lol. Note to moderators: I apologize for making another 1/4 mile thread, if one is to be deleted, please do not delete this one
================================================== =========

Weather/Time:
I raced from 7:00pm-9:00pm. The temperature was about 25 Celsius (77 Degrees).

The Car:
-2008 Sport Red Tint-Coat Cobalt SS/TC, black interior, LSD, Sunroof, OnStar, XM radio.

What I did:
I lowered the front tire pressure to approximately 25 psi. The car has 2200kms on it.The spare tire was kept in the trunk, nothing removed (just like last time, bone stock). There was 1/4 of a tank of gas in the car, 91 octane from Petro Canada. Traction control was turned OFF for all of the runs and I was in Competition Mode. I did NOT use launch control on any of the runs.

Here are the 11 times in order from worst to best ET:

14.187@103.56mph, 60'=2.287
14.118@104.03mph, 60'=2.312
14.100@103.29mph, 60'=2.252
14.086@103.78mph, 60'=2.296
14.081@104.03mph, 60'=2.322
14.060@104.05mph, 60'=2.242
14.051@103.70mph, 60'=2.258
14.048@103.87mph, 60'=2.255
14.019@103.79mph, 60'=2.214
14.019@103.86mph, 60'=2.237

13.976@104.49mph, 60'=2.294

I gotta say that I was pretty scared that I would have my 2.4 SS incident again (15.04 ET and couldn't break into the extremely high 14's), but I did it. Broke into the extremely high 13's. I am very happy. Enjoy the pics!

My car and the car number, which is clearly and properly written on all the time sheets, thank goodness.

nice run. crazy that you traped 104 which is what hahn trapped. Congrats on proving 13's bone stock. I'd say you are one of the rare drivers that hits 13's. Good day for cobalts and the ss/tc's.

What were your 1/8th mile et and trap speeds?

He was doing a lot of tuning last night with HP Tuners. I believe he was running 14.1's once he got the tuning right. I don't remember his mod list but I know he had a 2.9 pulley and catback exhaust for sure.

Looks like the 1/8th mile on the 13.9 was a 9.2 at 79mph

yea, gov't computer blocks it. looks like you picked up 25mph in the back half. That is freaking incredible. Looks like the top end on these cars are getting real strong. Weird that some people are picking up some really awesome top end, while others aren't.

Yeah 3rd gear pulls really hard and I don't have to go to 4th. I cross the finish line just before redline.

must be because 1st and 2nd gear is limited to hp

1st 220hp
2nd 240
3rd full boost 260hp

or i'm wrong? i'm not sure how they work

It probably is something like this.

Motorcycles have been doing this for years.

I'm the SS/SC that was there with him.

My mods are:

GM Manifold, full exhaust 2.5" (downpipe all the way back), 42 lb injectors, 2.99 Pully, dual pass endplate, CX Racing H/E, Avid transmission mounts, ingalls, and custom tuned.

I ran a lot of 14.1's that night once I got the tune dialed in, mostly @ 102.

My personal best is a 13.897@102.35, but that was on a different night.

He did really well in his T/C, I couldn't touch his trap speeds, and my tuning seemed pretty much spot on by the end of the night (any more timing advance and it would start knnocking, running 11.7 AFR).

The only thing I was fooling with by the end was first gear boost limiting, trying to get that perfect, and ran out of time.

I can't wait to see the T/C with some GM stage kits for people that want to keep their warranty, they should be pretty damn fast!

Looks like you have a very consistant car and congrats on the times they are very nice. I hope my car is that consistant, if it is I may take up bracket racing lol.

Hahn's car also only had 70 miles on the clock. This may have played a bigger part than we think...even with his tuner on there. We'll have to see how his next trip out fares.

Awesome stock times, though!

Hopefully your car gets better each time you go like mine. Last time I went I was consistently trapping 101 and 102. Now all of a sudden 103 and 104. Not that I'm complaining, haha.

2.1's on stock rubber ain't out of grasp...i suggest goin back soon and grabbin a 13.7-8 out of it before you mod.

I've run this car and explored a lot of launching options. None of them led to anything better than a 2.21 60'. I managed 2.1's on my 2.4SS just cause I couldn't really get it to spin much.

What I'm trying to say is that I don't think it's me. I'm not saying my launch was perfect but I know it was pretty good. If anyone is running 2.1's in the SS/TC, then please say something. So with all due respect campo165, until you drive a stock SS/TC on the strip, don't assume I need a driver mod
