1/2 mile racing, Gila Bend AZ
I was sad the 1/2 mile racing thread didn't pan out with KMO43. I was looking forward to some times and stories and video.
I happened to hit up a 1/2 mile just last weekend, and raced both days in hopes of getting some good video. Ended up with too many videos to post, but they can all be found on my youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOa...vQ7hOVF9CUkuHw
Some of the hp estimates are probably not accurate. Everyone is supposed to put real numbers on their car so other people can find people in their league to race against. I didn't lie on mine, it makes a legit 520-540whp.
Had a great time and managed some personal bests with the car. I'm hoping i can break my records again in December when the next event arrives.
I thought more FWD cars would be into long distance rolling-start races, but there were only 3 FWD cars in the lineup out of 115+ cars. Another buddy of mine brought his Grand Prix GXP to race (383 stroker with nitrous) and was trapping 155mph. I did not manage to get a race with him as he took long breaks to keep his trans cooled.

Ya they changed the date of mine and I was busy that weekend plus getting reay to put the car away but I'm on the list now so I will hopefully make 1 or 2 next year on an upgraded setup!!
Great speeds I have to see how close I'll get to 165 once I hit the track

Man that looks super fun, I didn't know they had these types of events in gila bend. I lived in buckeye for about a year awhile back and never heard of this type of stuff going on. Except for a couple of friends drag racing their quads. But man your car moves, nice ride.

I'm lucky enough with these fat tires (235/60/15) and extra RPM, that 4th will do 170 on the limiter. Most runs i just dragged out 4th, others i tried 5th a little. Didn't really make a difference.

Will you be able to make it to the next one? They just announced another event for Dec 12/13.

He did talk to me! I told him i was sad you dont come out here more often lol.
That outing kind of sucked. Clutch engagement problems were keeping me from grabbing 2nd gear. Launched it all different kind of ways, but could only manage 11.4-11.5@133-136mph. But i magically made it to the finals with by-runs and won $100 for losing to a mid 9s civic, lol.

This is a little late, but i hit up the half mile again in March. New personal best. Had a radiator cap failure so i couldn't do more than 4 runs.
Next event is probably October and then December again.
