1/4 mile times w/ 07 Mustang

Made it out lastnight to Firebird Raceway lastnight. Got there Early enough to be one of the first 20 or so to tech and there was a nice small line in the staging areas when I lined up. Only problem was I sat out there for 45 minutes untill they opened up the track...

Had 3/4 of 89 oct. in the tank and it was about 85 out or so lastnight...much hotter than I wanted it to be. I was cooking in my car all night. Other than that track conditions were good.

So here are the runs in order.

Me / Other lane
Maverick
R/T- .098.... .066
60'- 2.244.... 2.343
1/4- 14.493.... 15.895
MPH- 98.46.... 85.44

Turbo'd 5.0 stang <--- Took him till 1/8th mile to catch me.
R/T- .502.... .370
60'- 2.186.... 2.409
1/4- 14.402.... 13.096
MPH- 97.94.... 122.79

LT1 Firebird
R/T- .412.... .630
60'- 2.299.... 2.328
1/4- 14.594.... 15.066
MPH- 97.17.... 93.69

S/C Lighting <--- I beat him to the lights at the end.
R/T- .391.... .651
60'- 2.162.... 2.135
1/4- 14.341.... 14.245
MPH- 98.66.... 96.90

2500 Duramax Chevy
R/T- .537.... .329
60'- 2.192.... 2.304
1/4- 14.322.... 15.776
MPH- 98.50.... 86.51

Was happy and dissapointed with lastnight. Happy that I'm consistant with the car and I can get it out of the hole in a hurry, but dissapointed that it wouldn't pick up the pace later on down the track. There were a couple things hurting me lastnight though. First was really bad heatsoak, the car never had a proper cool down on any of these runs. Second was a very warm sping evening. I'm sure the car woulda been much happier running in the 60-65 degree zone that I ran my Cobalt in to get it's good times. Third is the fact that I've got 18's and my car is optioned out(dual power/heated seats/body kit). I'm betting mine wieghs over 100 pounds more than the base model GT. I also forgot to take out the spare as well...that was kind of stupid.

I had hopes of cracking into the 13's with the stang lastnight, and I'm sure on a cooler night, with 1/4 tank of fuel and some slight weight reduction I could get it there. But it doesnt look like I'll have that chance again for a long time. It's just going to get hotter very fast here. But overall, I'm happy with lastnights' base line runs.

Not bad, your 60ft's could use a little work but I'm not sure what the track prep was like. A few local guys are pulling 13.9's stock in their 06/07 GT's but they do trap around 100 or so.

I dunno how I'm gonna manage much better than 2.1 '60 times. Either way, my trap shoulda been a bit higher I'm thinking.

The 2.16 and 2.18 is actually closer to a 2.2 than a 2.1 but I'm just bugging ya about that, just to let you know on my neon a 90 degree day I was trapping 5MPH less than on a 65 degree day.

Yeah, I think the warm weather was doing a bit more to my trap speed than I had thought. I was thinking about it and the Lightning that I ran against only 96 mph in the traps and those will usually do 100+. If I'm still stock when winter rolls around again in 5 years I'll retry for a new set of base lines.

The guy in the firebird needs to have his keys taken away from him.

And that turbo 5.0 trap speed is insane. Talk about a fun car from a roll.

My best with my Cobalt was a 14.51 @99 mph w/ 70 degree track temp. But this is my Mustang I'm talking about.

The elevation at the track is roughly 1300 ft and it was actaully about 90 degrees lastnight when I was racing.

No ****. I was destroying the 5.0 up untill the 1/8th mile mark. Then all I could here was "WHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE......WHOOOOOOOSH....WHHHHE EEEEEEEEEEEEE" and he was gone. It completely drowned out my exhaust and motor with my windows up.

work on your 60's you could get below a 2.0... come over to the mustangforums for some tips, there are alot of guys there running mid 13's stock.

You should talk to fazm over there, he was at the same drag strip i actually beleive it was the same day too, maybe you missed him. He has a turbo 4.0 (stock block and tranny too) making something like 380rwhp and 405rwtq.... cool guy, awesome car.

I just got back from speedworld tonight and there was a couple of 05 gt pulling the
same times your were getting lots of 14.4 and 14.3s so dont feel bad it's the average
times here in the heat soak.

I met him, taller young guy with curly brown hair. Nice dude. His plate says "its a v6" and it has a GT rear bumper and dual tips. He broke into the 12's that night. I think he said he was running slower than usual as well.

Reguardless of my '60 times, I still think the car should have been trapping at least 99 or 100. If it wont hit at least 99.50 mph there is no way that car is getting into the 13's on the stock tires.

It's a maroon fastback with the spoiler. Very distinct sounding turbo and BOV.

Not much of an improvement over the Cobalt was it? LOL I trapped faster in 103 degrees with my Cobalt! With intake/exhaust only!

i dono man, work on your launch. that 60 can come down quite a bit, and 2 tenths in your sixty is alot of et made up for. you should easily be trapping over 100 and you should definately be in the 13's. you had tcs off right? LOL. come to the mustang forums and ask the 4.6 guys, i'm not as much help as they could be.

TCS was off for all but one run, my 14.5. That was by accident. I've been asking a bunch of ppl on different mustang forums and everyone comes up with a different reply. It's a bit frustrating.

I know the times are slow, which is why I'm trying to get a handle on what's going on. Next time I go I really do need to give the car a proper cool down before I make a pass though. I never lifted the hood once when I was there and my first run was about 30 min after arriving and only 15-20 min after waiting in the staging lanes.
