1/8 mile expected times

Well assuming the weather holds up tomorrow will be my first time ever running at the track. Just wondering what times I should expect or what is capable with my mods which are gm stage 2, k&n intake and corsa cat-back. I feel pretty confident in my driving but like I said this my first time at the track...so what SHOULD I run?

I wouldn't be surprised if you went into the 7's. Being your first time, and being a little nervous I'd say low 8's.

He will definatly not run 7's thats crazy talk. I'd say low 9's and if you can get it to launch you'll see some high-mid 8's.

I'm gonna say low 9's... from what I've heard the SS/SC is a bitch to launch... if you can get a good 60' time... and don't miss any gears... or bounce off the rev limiter... you could hit the 8's...

LOL! Sorry, but Fast06SS runs 12's and his 1/8 mile times are low 8's, no way this guy's going to hit 7's. To the poster, shoot for high 8's, like 8.7, or 8.8.

If he has 234whp, without the stage 2, he could have about 260 with the stage 2. I still say I wouldn't be surprised if he runs in the 7's. 7.8 - 8.2. I think he should be in the 12's as well.

I'd say about mid 8's. That's what I am shooting for at least. If anything better than that happens, I'd be happy as hell. Your set up is pretty much what I'm running, and I'd really like to know your times.

Going from 8's to 7's is a LOT different than going from 9's to 8's. There's NO WAY he will run 7's. Low 9s, high 8's and I'd be happy.

Wow, your thinking is very flawed, remember he is attempting to do this on stock tires and clutch as well...

Look at it this way:

Brandon97z on this thread is running 9.6 with 159whp. with basically the same car (weight wise). You think adding 100 horses at the wheels is going to knock off .6 seconds? Almost all 50 shot N20 kits say you should get about a second decrease from a 50 horsepower increase. This is a 100 wheel horsepower increase. I don't think it's too amazing if 100 wheel horses added drops 1.6 seconds off of the time. Especially when it's a throttle increase, not bottle.

Like others have said, there's a HUGE difference between going from 9 seconds to 8 seconds and going from 8 seconds to 7 seconds. I mean, sure, a 50-shot on a 16-second car may make it a 15-second car, but will that same 50-shot make a 11-second car a 10-second car? Heck no. Not to mention, street tires + FWD = really tough to get 7's.

LOW 9's or 8.9 at best!!

REMEMBER, the more power you make the HARDER it is to launch! Good Luck either way

By the way, 7's in the 1/8th means 11.x to low 12's

Hey travis... with that mod list... have you thought about gutting that heavy stereo... losing the 18's... and really laying down some monster times with that Nitrous?

I take the box out when I go to the track. I run 8.3 with the 18's. How much faster could I run with the heavier 16's that came with it? Looks like this.....https://www.cobaltss.net/gallery/sho...=3&userid=4330

it's not so much about power travis. More or less power you are still trying to move 3200lbs. using like 55' of surface area not much to move all that weight you know? Only helps top end when you alot of power and by that time you only have like 1/16ths of a track left.

Sorry for taking so long to post results but I ended up with a best time of 9.248 @ 79.185 mph. Kinda disappointed but then I realized it was my first time ever at the track and launching is extremely difficult. Tons of wheelhop! I have the Ingalls stiffy now set to 11mm and testing it I get absolutely no hop now. Will be running again not this friday but the following 2 fridays and will post results then. Launching was so hard that it seemed that any excess revs really pissed the tires off. With the ingalls now I launch at 4k and plenty of wheelspin but the hop is all gone. I'm really excited to go back now and I feel I should pick up atleast half a second.

EDIT: I didn't even have the Ingalls before...just I worded it like I had it installed but set really soft.
