1/8 mile racing
1/8 mile racing
First off, I would like to say that my local 1/8 mile track sucks, and they never prep the damn thing. With that being said, I mustered a best of 9.1 in the SS/TC tonight, which is very shitty, but better than what I did when I was stock of course. I tried easing into the throttle and then NLS 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, but for some reason I think the fuel cutoff or something, because I was running like I was driving a 2.2, LOL. Then I figured I'd try something different and did a regular shift from 1st to 2nd and then NLS into 3rd and that is when I got my 9.1. This is how bad the track is, with my mods on my 05 GT there are tons of guys that have ran 8.4-8.6 on stock tires, and the best I ran in it was an 8.9 with Nittos. I gotta get up to Bowling Green or a track that is actually prepped and ready for racing. I wanna get some DR's for both cars, but I still dont think it will help because of how shitty the track is. Either way, I'm done venting and I dont think I wanna race at my local track ever again.
I hear you brother. Here in Northeast Arkansas there is absolutely no sign of a good strip. And the closest 1/4 mile strip is in Memphis. The rest are taxiways of old burnout airports or a 100 year old 1/8 mile redneck throw-down.
The track here is old as ****, I'm talking from like the 60's, and back then they said it was one of the best tracks around, 1/8 or 1/4 mile, but now it just sucks, and the owners dont seem to give 2 *****.
im happy my track does prep since we do have 6 second dragsters that come and use ours. Even open track nights we have some 8 second cars come out to play and have no problem hooking up.
yeah i only got a 9.02... i swear i think i got in the 8's, sometimes people don't even watch my times though =|

Not sure what the trap was, for some reason my Wife doesnt ever remember to look at that and tell me, LOL.
I'm alittle less than an hour away I guess, but I have never been to the track there. It's a 1/4 mile correct?
What were you doing up at 2:40, didnt you have to get up at like 8:00 for work?

memphis is like an hour away, thats cake!
I'm hoping to get up to Bowling Green sometime very soon, and maybe, just maybe being on a prepped track will help me out alot.
Thanks for that info.
