13 second cobalt SC?

Hey guys, I was wondering what does it take to get a cobalt SC into 13's with a good driver? Like I/E and pulley or what? Just curious.

To get an ss/sc in the 13's you are probably looking at a stage 2 kit along with an intake and exhaust. That should get a good driver into the high 13's. It also depends on the size pulley you use, 3.0 is safe but 2.8 is or 2.6 is alot of boost. It could even be possible with that. But you know what they say, release the spray (no2) and you're on your way, you hear what I say, hey? Sorry....

I'm going to track today. I'm worried as hell. I want 13's so bad I could cry. 13.999999999 and I'll be happy at this point. But after watching alot of the other guys with more mods and better tires than me only run 14's its starting to ge tto me. Who knows maybe my driver mod will pull me through

i wish people would read threads b4 they posted.. tofu did it with a pully and intake.. 13.85 i believe, so just use a smaller pulley intake and exaust, if your a good driver and launch it right, then you will be fine. I'm bettin some people will be hittin 12.9 this summer

Hmm, I thought I remembered seeing in car and driver whenthe SS first came out, and seeing that this was like a 14.2-14.4 car from the factory. So do the stock SS pirelli's suck? Or are they good tires?

tires good wheel selection is a no no though. Imo there not fuctional for drag racing. Well then again neither is the tire there more ment for handling.

Someone on here with a Silver SS ran 13.95 or something with just an intake if I remember correctly. He actually had a few time slips in the 13's.

It all depends on the driver. I am hitting 14.3's with intake and exaust and thats easing out of first at the line. If I launched it right I could probably hit very high 13's.

Unfortuately most cobalt owners are NOOBS at driving so yea not many people are doing well. When I go to the track and see Cobalt SS's running 16s and 18s I just laugh, as I am brand new to stick and running low 14's....

It doesnt take much to get to the 13's, but YES our stock tires and first gear suck *****. From a roll you would think stock we where a 13 second car, but its so hard to lauch our car properly from a line.

If you had stage 2 and I/H/E you would be a low 13 second car IMO.

I agree with everything.....and the part I highlighted is 100% the factor.
I ran a 14.5 with I/H/E while a friend with just an intake ran a 14.2.
I suck at the 1/4....while my buddy is a shifting devil...

I totally agree, our first gear just sucks, punch it down in first at any speed and your wheels wil be hopping!

I think the first gear is too low and 2nd is too high, we drop way down when going into 2nd.

a good launch and good shifts will get you a low 14 stock. with very little money you can run 13's. try just a clutch and better tires

U need to drive the hell outa this car to the 13's . I ran a string of 14.0's and 14.10's @ 101-103 mph , and on the same day I managed a 13.96 and a 13.95 . My only mods are Injun intake , and a edlebrock muffler with stock exhaust piping . You also need GREAT air , if it was in the middle of the summer I wouldnt have pulled that off with the mods I have ....or you need to live in Texas , LUCKY Tofu , hehehe

My thread about how I got mine run 13's on stock pulley is still current in the Drag Section so I wont link it....Im lazy . LOTS of info in there man . I plan on going qwicker Intense drag day , still stock pulley , but I got a few tricks up my sleeve to help me launch this Biotch better and the air still should be fantastic . Plus Norwalk is about the best hooking track in the world .

I wish you luck. But 100% stock i don't see the car getting enough traction to cut a quick enough 60 to get into the 13's.

The quickest 60 i have seen on here was around 2.0 and i am not sure if that was on stock tires or not.

^^^ my 2.07 was on the stock pirelli's . I do think I coulda got it down to a 1.9something if the starting line was a little bit stickier and a little more effecient finessing of the throttle
