14.06 @ 102.95. 09SS/TC Sedan video

My first time out with the Cobalt. Track was shitty and the idiot at the waterbox would not let me drive around and "clean my tires" on the dry pavement AFTER the burnout patch. Some poeple still don't get it, NO burnouts needed for street tires...lol

I basically hotlapped 8 runs back to back, stopped to check the tires and did 2 more right after. It took me a good 5 runs to get used to the car (high 14's) and I ran a couple 14.1's & 14.2's. Best MPH was 104 and best 60ft was 2.285.

What I learned: These cars do not mind hot lapping, L/C helps if it is your first time out and take your time with the NLS. If you go too fast it's easy to mess it up. And I suck at dragracing a FF car!
Bottom line if you want to dragrace, buy a Cobra haha. I am sure I will do a lot better on a real roadcourse with this car.

Good time man and mph. I remember how stoked I got in 95 when I ran 14.1's @ 101.x in my 95 Formula Firebird 6 speed in 97 degree heat though. All the magazines said 14.3 @ 98 for my old Formula. That was my first time on a track ever and spun horribly, like 2.3 60 fts.

Yea, I hate seeing ppl driving through the water and doing a burnout on street tires...All I do is turn them over to clean them off. Good times too.

We have one out here that is horrible. If you are on street tires good luck netting low 14's with decent mods. I ran a 13.7 in 90+* weather in Bradenton, came out to Orlando Speed World and ran a 14.4 on Street Tires. There is almost 0 track prep there unless it's some huge event.

So they make you drive through the water pit and won't even let you attempt to dry your tires off?? Ghey

Wow....At least down here they allow us to do that. I got pissed at OSW though. There were a whole bunch of kids there in pickup trucks doing massive burnouts on street tires in the water pit itself...causing all kinds of water to then spread up just about to the damn stage line.

Hey dude,

Wasn't sure if you were on these forums or not but I'm the one with the black TC that was there Friday night. I completely forgot to mention it at the time guess pretty much every Cobalt owner has tracked down these forums . Seeing both of you run well has me wanting to run mine now that I know my oil is at the correct level...Venom's got stronger the more he hot-lapped, and watching you pass the SRT-4 in the last 1/2 on one run just before I left was good to see .

Sorry for the delayed reply and thanks for the kind compliments guys.

I was pretty happy when i outran that SRT-4. He tried saying it was stock, but i deffinatly seen an aftermarket intercooler in the front of his car! Hope to see you out next time. We are heading to Grandbend sometime in June for Test & Tune. And i will be at the "J-Body bash" first weekend in June.

Venom,

Thanks for posting the pic. I had a blast Friday night, Kinda got rained out at about 8:30ish. I was hoping to run a 13.xx but the track sucked. Next time out i will let you know we are going and hope to see you around...

Hunter

lol Orlando Speed World is terrible... i tried to tell people that when i only ran a 14.1 with an intense stage 4, that track is just horrible.

That's called "SRT-4 Denial Syndrome"...the shock of being beat by a stock Cobalt is too much for them to handle since they no longer have bragging rights when matched up with a TC when drivers are of equal skill . Anyways, I suspect you'll see better times at Grand Bend since the track prep and conditions are far superior to St Thomas and the car tends to hook up much better there (even my old 2.2 showed the difference in times).

Flip me a PM when you're heading out (with some advanced notice) and if I have nothing going on I'll head to either track if I'm not busy. I'm considering heading to the J-Body Bash but it's usually so packed you're lucky to get any time in at all short of a couple runs but it usually makes for a good time.
