2.2L Vs Celica GT-S

Well, Tuesday night I was driving home from the girlfriends house. I pulled up to a notorious intersection for racing in town, SR 44 turning southbound onto SR 415. It's a two-lane turn, followed by about 500 feet of two lane road on 415, merging into one. There was a newer Celica GT-S beside me, and I could hear him revving already. Knowing I had the advantage of being in the inside lane, I decided to go for it.

Light turns green, we both take off. He plays dirty and turns into me a little hard, pushing me into the oncoming lane (no traffic at this time of night). It's looking close as we get to the merge, but I ended up putting that ass right infront of him. We continue down 415 for a while, probably around 85-90MPH, all the sudden he looks like he backs off a bit.

Wanting to put some room between him and me (I live down this road, I don't want some crazy guy coming to my house, etc..) I keep going. I pass a couple cars down the way and notice that he's starting to get on it again, coming towards me. I kick it up a notch and get to about 105, he's still behind me, so I drop it, getting to about 130. That does it for him, I'm leaving him pretty quickly. I noticed a couple people flashing their lights at me, so I slow down anticipating a cop or something down the road. He, of course, is still going for it and gets right behind me again.

We're still going along at about a hundred, and I'm about to go for it again, I'm not seeing any cop around.

That's when it happened. The car behind me all the sudden turns on it's blue flashing lights. That's right folks, the car "racing" me at 105 was a county sherrif's officer.

Turns out he passed the Celica who slowed down, to come after me. Obviously I couldn't see this happen at this time of night.

I quickly pull over, not wanting to make the situation worse. "Turn off the ******* car and get out," is the first thing heard. I quickly do as he says, getting out of the car. I'm standing behind my car with my hands on the trunk. He starts to talk about what he saw. He was at the gas station on the corner of where it all started. He saw everything. Everything.

That's about the time he says "Put your hand behind your back."

I'm arrested for Reckless Driving. My car is towed, and I'm in jail for the night.
Case is pending.

Guess who won't be racing anymore.

Good job endangering more lives after the fact, why did you keep going? Between perhaps losing your license, fines for being in the clink and attorney fees, points and insurance sky rocketing I think it turned out ok considering otherwise..

With Apologies to the one who said it first...."Oh well, That's the hazards of high performance driving".....as quoted by a father to his son while the son was getting a ticket for racing on the street (true story). The father was smoking and drinking a beer at the time!

You got one hard lesson...let us know how much it's gonna cost you.

Don't be a douche. Obviously I've learned my lesson, I don't need you lecturing me. The purpose of this thread was to share my story in hopes that someone else in my position doesn't make the same mistake.

So far it's only cost me about $150. Things aren't that bad yet, I got my car back the next day (with some neat new window art :\) and my court date is in December. I'm sure that's when things get pricey.

It was a misdemeanor traffic violation, he simply arrested me because he felt like it. All in all it was probably the best thing.

well I just got off the same boat, 3 yrs, $2500.00 and still owe $600 later it has not cleared my record my insurance is 450.00 month and I cannot be seen by the cops here they know me by name.

it was an equal situation but with a 23b 3 rotor twin turbo RX-7 2 nd gen at maybe 180 to 205mph on the turnpike with a vette a viper racing and a few other following we passed the forested median area going south toward MIA and there it was red and blue on motorcycle and SS camaros Oh man we all stopped got the same fines and most went to jail cars inpounded so on..... ( i did not ) when I got the car back the turbo was removed the NX cooler for the intercoler was removed and a lot of stuff got stripped from the car somthing about being illegal to have the 26b engine on the rd. (it was imported) VIN's did no match in my car because I built it with my uncle and it was maybe 3 cars and a completely different motor.

So yeah I do not street race any more ( like that ) I've pushed the balt a few times but not enough to get me in trouble, Now if I would have gotten an SS or the RL I would have ended in the same spot

Not trying to rain on your parade or be a dick but you have to watch yourself. When you "FELT" that a cop was around why didn't you ever stop to begin with? Sixth sense not kick in?

I hate how alot of people always say "thanks for endangering innocent lives" about street racing, when there probably isnt one person on this board that has NEVER street raced. But the fact that he did it at night, IS a little careless, but it does take ***** to post his story, knowing he's going to get flamed.

Car probably went into that "fight or flight" adrenaline mode when it felt the cop chasing it. That's always good for about 20 or so extra horses.

For the MOST (not always) part it is only the people in slow cars acting like idiots. SS/SC owners are not restricted from this statement.
