2nd time drag racing 1/8th mile...this car is meant for 1/4 mile imo

**I am on the left in each picture

So tonight my best two races were against a 370 z and a 2008-9 gti. 370 has unknown mods. My reaction was bad vs the 370 because I crossed the line and was going to back up a little bit. I looked up and was oh Sh## lets go!

My last race of the night and my only win was vs the GTI. It was his first time out, and he had a intake and a downpipe, no tune. I was kinda upset how he was able to keep up with me pretty good. His time was better than some of my times that night!

I am running continental DWS tires, just rotated em so they are brand new on the front (almost trashed on the rear). My 60 ft time got better and better throughout the night.

More so, my trap time was faster than every car I raced, leading me to believe that I could have won a 1/4 mile vs those cars.

Any tips?

the first race you would have lost for sure, fwd cars are always going to trap higher compared to other cars in its class. But if you look at your slip you can see the z was just moving down the track faster than you, that run in the 1/4 would have been 14.3 (you) vs 13.7 (z).

as far as suggestions its the 60ft that needs work, just focus on getting off the line better.
i am assuming the car is stock?

oh wow really you are running sub par stock times, just using the math to calculate what you would run in the 1/8 to what it would be in 1/4. Typically a bolt on ss which you own with tune should yield you a low 13 second pass if not high 12 second pass depending on your level of driving.

my suggestion is to always try to master driving a car at stock power output especially focusing on the 60ft, if you have the selectable trifecta tune i would try a few passes with it off to see how you fair going down the track.

Yea ive had the car for a year now, Im pretty good at driving it, although much better at roll races. The drag strip seemed less sticky than a normal road. Maybe its because they spray down the ground with water so all the nitromethane cars can do burnouts?

I actually am not 100% sure it's trifecta. The second owner didn't know about the tune, I contacted the first owner as the second only had the car for 4 months and he told me it was trifecta activated by the cc button. I smell straight up gas anytime I drive, very rich. I'm at 55k miles, car has never had spark Plugs done oil change % at 23 right now but I drive it hard every day. What is a goOd 60 ft on street tires? I was running 2.5-2.7 until the last two runs as seen above.

i would figure out what the tune is for sure, that car isn't moving as fast as it should, a lot is to do with your skill, like zrated said and i agree since i have done so myself a 2.0 is nice 60ft time, if you are almost hitting 3 seconds, you need to work on getting out of the hole. Consistency wins races, so remember that.

How are you launching the car?

Second thing is which i try to stress to people don't race a car or be rough on it if you aren't 100% sure that it is in 100% condition, not trying to scare you but it will help you avoid later issues. If you think it is a trifecta car you can give vince your vin and he should be able to pull it up. You also can find someone or buy the cable yourself and datalog the car.

Look at the second 60 ft...it was 2.260. I was really nervous the first few runs although I had been to the strip before. Started off at 2.9, went to 2.7, 2.5, 2.3, 2.2, then it started raining.

I confirmed with Vince that I do indeed have a trifecta tune. Did an oil change today, oil was black as night, as usual. I ran with 26 psi in the tires, stock springs. I know my shifts could be a little cleaner (even the NLS from 2nd to 3rd), but my transmission feels soo notchy, I feel like im pushing through a wall with every shift (gets better with warmer weather)

Maybe you shouldn't be pushing it so hard if it feels like that? Just saying.

From my understanding others feels the same way. Does yours not? The original owner cut my shifter down really short. I broke the shift linkage cables with that pos. Then, I replaced that with a TWM STS kit. Smoother than before, but I am still have to push hard for third gear especially. Readjusted the cables, made it a little better. I have new roll pins, but could never install them due to the old ones being so darn stuck.
