3 amigos track day

Well, this starts early, like 7:30am early. Adam and Kritter convinced me to go to the track today. We decided to hit Dinwiddie (Virginia Motorsports Park) near Richmond. To our suprise, they were resurfacing it so we hit the nearest library to go online to find one (this was really Adam's idea...) So, we find Maryland International Raceway, Budd's Creek. So we head up there and hope to make some runs.....
Well, we did good. Considering Kritter or myself had never been to the track in the SS's. Adam had one previous experience (he can verify the # later).
I'll post my numbers first. (Kritter and I ran the first 2 passes then we ran against other cars the last 2)

first run (me)
r/t: .623
60': 2.394
330: 6.658
1/8: 9.982
MPH: 73.30
1000: 12.846
1/4: 15.193
MPH: 97.55

second run (me)
r/t: .153
60': 2.582
330: 6.803
1/8: 10.079
MPH: 74.65
1000: 12.886
1/4: 15.183
MPH: 99.16

third run (me)
r/t: .563
60': 2.275
330: 6.247
1/8: 9.473
MPH: 75.49
1000: 12.259
1/4: 14.52
MPH: 101.26

fourth run (me)
r/t: .072
60': 2.499
330: 6.559
1/8: 9.809
MPH: 74.91
1000: 12.618
1/4: 14.929
MPH: 98.32

I was car 874. Kritter was car 873.

I was starting to get worried after reading the first 2 since I know you have mods, but you redemed yourself with the last 2 runs. Very nice.

I tried taking the first run easy.
The second run, I spun the tires, so I backed off and squeezed the clutch. When I let it out I had horrible wheel hop.
The third is where I figured out how to launch it.
The fourth my opponent and myself bogged off the line and we struggled to make it up (a VTEC civic hatch with slicks - he ran me down)

What a road trip yesterday! 389.3 Miles total!! I had a blast. For some weird reason, my computer isn't reading my digital camera's memory card, so I cant load the pics of my slips until I let Kritter scan them. Here is a link to my previous runs in October https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/drag-racing-52/good-stock-ss-s-c-1-4-times-6703/

Yesterday:

Run 1
60ft 2.258
330 6.343
1/8 9.536
mph 76.71
1000 12.282
1/4 14.567
MPH 97.47

Run 2

60ft 2.356
330 6.298
1/8 9.444
mph 77.95
1000 12.145
1/4 14.382
MPH 102.51

Run 3

60ft 2.349
330 6.185
1/8 9.324
mph 77.88
1000 12.032
1/4 14.275
MPH 102.56

Run 4

60ft 2.217
330 6.078
1/8 9.222
mph 77.67
1000 11.941
1/4 14.209
MPH 99.86

It's so damn hard to launch these cars, if I could get my 60ft down, 13.9's are in sight w/o heavy modding

I hear you on launchin problems.

I can't wait until the track opens here in Louisville. there are only 1/8 mile tracks out here with in reasonable driving distance. Plan on making a trip to bowling green for a 1/4 mile run or two.

All in all, the one time that I did run the car before they closed for the season, I was suprised by the 2000+ rpm pull. All of my mustang and nova buddies were givin hell until I got the launch down. I kept trying to launch like i did in my mustang.... that just resulted in smoldering tires and clutch...

I saw that someone on here had gotten an aftermarket clutch... Where was it purchased? anyone know. Are they available by mail order or do you have to make a million mile trip?

Alright, I'll put up my times to, and get them all scanned in when I get the slips from Adam and Doc. My cobalt is all factory, and I had never done this before.

Run 1-I spun the tires hard and missed second gear...it sucked bad.

R/T-.682
60'-2.566
330-7.800
1/8-11.224
MPH-72.55
1000-14.097
1/4-16.489
MPH-93.95

Run2-I came off the line to early...dammit
R/T-LB3A
60'-3.065
330'-7.141
1/8-10.426
MPH-74.91
1000-13.227
1/4-15.600
MPH-94.97

Run3-I pun the wheels off the launch, but not as bad as I did on the first run.
R/T-.246
60-2.832
330-7.352
1/8-10.665
MPH-74.77
1000-13.456
1/4-15.806
MPH-96.01

4th run-Weird run...Posted the best time, but I missed third for about half a second(learned what missing gears felt like pretty quickly..lol). Got my ass handed to me by a Mach 1 mustang, he ran 12.705.
R/T- -.315(I don't know what the dash means next to my R/T)
60'-2.844
330-6.850
1/8-10.264
MPH-72.06
1000-13.142
1/4-15.525
MPH-94.57

All in all I had a blast, and hopefully I can do this more often. I think once I got my launches down, and eliminated my wheel spin, I could get into the 14's before adding any upgrades. Good times though.

I can't wait to go 'play' at the track again. I think we can improve our times vastly.
