60 Foot Is Sh*t

Ok guys with the mods in my sig below minus the exhaust and downpipe which are on backorder I went to the track last week and ran a 13.93 @ 102mph
my 60 foot was 2.4 seconds!!! (that was my best run) I know there is a 2.0 60foot in there i just cant get to it. I need help with my driver mod because the launch is key, those of you in the high 12s-mid 13s what is the "magical secret" to launching our car? PLEASE HELP

yea the lauch is key, why shift at 5500? my redline is 7200 why not go all the way? i guess it is finding the line between feathering too much and spinning the tires through 1st. i usually just let the clutch out around 1900rpm quickly but swiftly, sometimes it works out and sometimes I BOG

I average 2.1-2.3 60 foots. Unfortunately w/ a front wheel drive car and our loose clutch, you cant expect much better. my best run was a 13.69 in pretty warm temps. The time sheet should be in my sig. Ive added a few parts since then, but havent been to the track since last summer. IM gonna put my new tires on and probably hit up ceicel in the next few weeks and aim for the 13.4 my brother got w/ the same mods.

for me, I just feather the clutch till I feel it fully grip, rev to 6.5K and then shift into 2nd, from there I shift @ 7k for the rest of the gears and usually finish the 1/4 in 3rd, but do shift into 4th just to be safe.

Banging from 1st to 2nd @ 7k seems to cause my car to bog down due to too much spin.

No.. the secret is boost ramp in HP Tuners... limit how much boost in 1st gear to make it more useable..Drags can only help once he gets a set of drive shafts that don't suck. Interim making 1st gear useable by limiting boost = better traction and no wheel hop when he gets on it.

No offense but you must not know how to drive. I shaved .2 off my 60 ft's with this alone. That and driver mod.

He puts a set of sticky tires on and he will snap something for sure. An AXLE being one of them.

For those of you who dont have HP tuners (man I wish I could ) dont pedal to the metal the gas pedal, and you wont build 17+ lbs of boost in 1st, and it really does the same thing. I like to be able to not fully gas it, wait till IM half way through first and gripping and then punch it. You would be surprised how much control you have when you have the true drivers mod :P

As far as drags, yea, your going to go through axles like candy.....

lol so i guess a 13.6 @ 105 is not driving, and i really wish everyone would stop using "driver mod" if that was the case i would have stage 135456465156458615648

Indeed. I just want him to know that equipment alone is not the solution it's more self control and a steady gas pedal foot. If you do have HPT adjust the boost ramp to 60 for the first 4000 to 5000 and then go full boost afterwords. It helps out and shouldn't really effect top speed.

I meant to say Axels from DriveShaft Shop. Sorry I am trying to be quick with my responses. jesus... This is why I'm starting to dislike this site by the day. Too many stupid responses.

Get a set of these if your running drags man or you will break some **** for sure.

I'm not here to argue. Everyone has certain ways of doing things. Mine seem effective. Whatever you did before you sold your balt was as well. We all have different prospectives.

haha, in all seriousness though, i will take drag-radials, axles, and a clutch to a 1.9 60ft, over lowering boost in first anyday, what is the fastest on street tires on here, like 2.1 i think?

You don't have to be a pecker about it, I'm not. I'm not here to point out stupid mistakes, i'm here to learn and provide what I know. All the guys who do know a few things have since left because of sheer stupidity on this forum.

alright, through all of the arguments i pretty much figure the key is not ging mad in first gear and chillin out. I just need some practice on launching and not either bogging or spinning like hell! haha as for traction in the next two weeks im adding 2.7 pulley, traction bars, tran mount, CAB's, and 235 KDW2s. SO i should be good for traction as long as my axles hold up my next mods will be clutch, level 2 axles, and NITROUS.

I got rid of the wheelhop and just need practice now. I added new 235 kdws but havent been back to the track yet. Hoping that the axles hold up for a while longer. Starting to get a lot of grease coming out of the boots, on both sides...

stg2cobalt you still have .3-.4 seconds of improvment too! you R/T wat .422, good run. That is the one thing I am pretty consistent at is keeping my R/T's around .05-.20
gotta know that tree!

the key is....rwd conversion like whatever his name is doing. I mean his forged motor with the twin turbo setup would also help your sixties, but rwd will help alot LOL. Who is it that is doing that again? kinda rediculous, but ******* SWEET.
