I would have gotten a manual myself, as my last car was a 5 spd Alero. But it just wasn't practicall for me at the time.

i would have loved to get a manual... my job however involves multi=tasking while driving, so it wouldn't be practical

an auto is nothing to hate a car over, its slower most of the time, but not a reason to hate

the automatic GTO is actually quicker than the stick......the fastest transmission in the world is on an automatic BMW.......with today's technology owning an automatic is no laughing matter except when we pull up to someone in a manual whom doesn't know how to drive and run faster than them because of it

with my 4t65e tranny and Ecotec I'll be able to put down way more horse than you BullDog.

(yes I know my car has a 4t45...but only for the moment)

In a 4-cyl it was!!!!!!! I loved everything about my Cavalier except the tranny. I even had the "top-of-the-line" 4-speed auto and it still sucked. So I guess I really didn't hate the car overall, but the auto really hurt the fun factor.

I thought this was suppose to be a 1/4 mile threat for autos...not an auto discussion.

ahh things always get changed around in topics...especially since not many people have had their 2.4's to the track...oh yea i forgot to tell you.....the best my base 2.2 ever ran was a 16.5 bone stock with a 1/2 tank of 87......

so there is about a 1 second difference between the 2.2 and 2.4 then i guess, also yeah it still is a 1/4 mile thread i guess until we can make a better more organized one when times are widely available lol

when I race from the line I put it into "L" then I go, and at 5500rpm I shift into "I" for 2nd and 3rd and by then the race is usually over.

Just FYI.... the L setting will handle 1st and 2nd.... switch to I for 3rd... then finish with D for 4th.
