first 1/4 for me
first 1/4 for me
This was the first time I ever set foot on a drag course. I made 3 attempts first 2 were 15.5 but with a lot of tire spinning.
my last one in detail was:
RT= 0.914
60 feet= 2.374
MPH= 94.73
ET = 14.709
I was pretty please with the number since it was my first time, I think that with practice i can improve a lot my launching,
I took a picture of my slip but I can't put it here, Im bad with computer sorry..I put it in my gallery tho for proof Im on the right
Bye guy's

Mid to high 14's aint bad but still kinda lagging for the power output. It would probably help if the car had a higher redine than a measly 6,450rpm. My SHO runs mid 14's all day long with a quaife and 18's and light mods to the engine. The 8k rev limit helps make the gears last longer. Does your SS have the performance pac with the quaife? I bet this will help dramatically on launches and exiting corners. I swear by the Quaife LSD's. Of course I had to spend $1300 on my SHO's Quaife and install it myself. Drag radials would be nice but a good set of Yoko Advans or BFG KDWS's would help overall grip on these cars. I can't wait to get my 06' SS/SC with Performance pack in December here in Italy. I might try upgrading to some 225/40/zr18 Yoko Advan RT-615's and ditching the Pirellis. These plus the LSD will help takeoff decently.
Nice times, especially for a first timer with a new car. Outstanding in fact!
The CSS pulls so hard up top that the usual estimate of losing 2/10 off the e.t. for every 1/10 reduction in 60' times seems a bit conservative. I would bet you get 3/10 per 1/10 off your launch. I can't wait to see if simply adding some air bags on the rear will get you in the low 14's.

not trying to hate but it seems like everyone in canada runs better times with worse 60' foots and lower traps WTF! Granted it was hot as ***** when i went to english town NJ. I wish every tracks slip showed 330' 1000"'and 1/8 mile times so I could compare where other people where making up those extra thenths of a sec . sorry if im complaining just that i really wanted bettween a 14.5 and a 14.7 best i could get is a 14.8. I just dont get it sometimes but i guess every track is different.

How many runs did you do and how was the track conditions... did you light the tires up before running the track, I was not planning to do that... Any other pointers for a newb's first time at the track.
Thanks,

It depends alot on track conditions and temps. Try too run at night the colder the air the better for the blower + just ease out of the lights not reving the SS up and dumping the clutch thats how I ran a 14.5 but the other run I missed 3rd which would have got me a 14.4 at 98-99mph I will be trying again in two weeks or so.....
I am looking to break into the high 14's... I can shift really fast while keeping the revvs up high... and my launching is also pretty good... I usually get about a 1/2 second of slippage...
As for lighting the tires up before a run... I've heard both good and bad things about it... Also how do you get the tires to spin without the annoying / embarishing wheel hop...
Thanks all,
-Rich

Yes it is not great for the clutch, but if you only are doing it a few times, no big deal.

First off, it can be very dangerous for the serious racers if they hit any water while under way, they can lose traction and control big time, secondly, if any track official worth a spit sees it, you are going to be booted right now. Same thing with running your a/c for you first timers at the track, you drip water, you are not going to be loved by anyone out there. So turn it off before you leave for the drive to a strip and leave it off until you are on your way home.
