First Time Drag

Hey everyone, I have a stock 07 SS/SC just got back from the my first time at the track. My best time was a 14.9 @ 96.20 r/t .580 and a 2.45 60. I don't know what is considered "good" for an r/t and 60. I spun in first pretty bad every run...i couldn't just couldnt hook up

any advice is greatly appreciated i know these cars can run low to mid 14's as is.

Don't worry about your RT. The RT has no impact on your time, your time doesn't began until you start rolling (break the 1st set of lasers), so you can sit there for three days and it will not make any difference on your slip. Not a bad RT regardless! Your 60 could definitely use some work. I usually leave just like I do under normal driving, then roll into it (usually results in a 2.1). If you raise the RPM at all or floor it off the line, its just going to spin. My advice to you is to just keep practicing. There's a low 14 second in that car as it sits, judging by your trap, etc.

How did you launch it?

I was launching by side stepping the clutch around 2,000rpm.

lol you cant just dump the clutch on a FWD car that doesnt have slicks and expect a good launch. Put some effort into the launch and start with the RPM's steady at 2k, take justttt a hair longer with letting out the clutch than if you were to pull away from a stop. Also, throttle control is key to getting a good launch. So you need to hear and feel the car for the traction is the best way i can put it. Takes lots of practice.
