First time to the track

I brought my car to the track to be disappointed with the times. Mostly my fault because I wasn't launching hard. My best run was 14.57@100mph. My clutch is slipping so bad that I had to let off the gas then get back on it. Tires are completely bald too. I know my car has more potential because as soon as I got 3rd gear it pulled hard on everyone. I have gmstg 2 and and injen intake. I'm going to experiment with new tires and clutch. I found that I have to ride pop off the launch. I just don't know exactly where to launch because my car just spins. I was launching at like 2g.

Don't go WOT in first at all. Go out to an uncrowded country road and practice launching. You want to get through first as fast as possible with out spinning. Then hit 2nd and go WOT.

You sure that will help? I see what you are saying because my 1st gear is pointless. It just spins

Yea, it's just all in practice man. I've worked my 60ft's down to 2.2's now, you'll get better the more you do it.

No it's not. You need to learn how to figure it out. Shibito is right. I go at it slightly differently though to where I try to be at WOT when I reach the end of 1st gear, trying to get the tires to spin as little as possible.

Where do you launch it at? I like your 1/4 mile time that you have in your sig. I have recently put on a 2.9 pulley, I bought a spec 3+ clutch and the new ottp heat exchanger. I sort of want to go out and get the 2.8 pulley now. I have 60# injectors as well that I haven't installed. I know a guy that will tune it for me. I am going to look around for colder spark plugs. I think 2 steps colder if I get the 2.8

I release the clutch and peddle the throttle. No more than 1500 on the launch. The key is trying to keep tire-spin under control in 1st gear.

That is exactly what I was launching my car at but what I did was hammer it down and it would spin. Looks like next time I will peddle it more and see what I can do. Also, I have a new clutch that I plan on putting in soon and that should help too. I have a 2.9 pulley as well since last time. I plan on going to 2.8 or 2.7 BUT before I switch I will look it up more because I don't want to overspin the blower and cause loss of power due to too much heat. That is a different topic though. I appreciate the help. I will keep you all posted with video evidence IF I break 13's
