First time at the track. Good and bad.

Well I went to the track for the first time at a "Secret Street" event at it. It was a ton of fun, I was pretty nervous and my best time was a 15.2 @98mph. Traction was a major issue, the other guys told me that it was excessively slippery too.

The fourth run was my worst, mostly cause I didn't finish and snapped my passenger axle while racing another member .

Anyways, mods are 2.8, 60's, ZZP S3 HE, Intake, Front Rotated Mounts and the ZZP Canned tune. I ordered rear rotated mount, hptuners, ZZP Axles and a wideband so we'll see how my times improve!

any tips? Also carnage below. I also know that they are very high times for the mods. Elevation is around 3600'.

Joel

Awesome!

Also, your times will get better with some practice at launching. Feather the throttle and clutch and walk it out of the hole. It will take time to learn your car and the track to see what works.

Do NOT worry about your times for your first trip to the track ever. You will only get better and better with experience. My first pass in my ss/tc was a 14.8 and I left that track night with a best of 14.1. I returned a few weeks later to run the car a few times and that netted me a 13.9. Once the weather started getting colder I ran the car more and more and it responded with a 13.7 and a 13.5 the next week. Same car while being stock netted a 1.3 second difference from my first run ever in warm weather to having some seat time in perfect track conditions.

What was the 60ft time?
Was the car wheel hopping on the launch when it broke the axle?
What tires are you running? What psi?
What rpm are you launching at?

98mph will get you into the low 14s with some decent driving and track prep.

My 60's were in the 2.5-2.6's.

Yes it wheel hopped, I was just telling the other guy how I don't get wheel hop any more with my tranny mount (Haven't had hop in months) then this. I laughed at the irony.

I have BFG KDW2's at 35PSI cold.

I tried 2k and rolling into it when I found the track slick.

Thanks for the tips, that's a huge difference by just driving/track prep. I wish the track was local, I'll be back in a few weeks.

I also forget to mention I also am picking up powell tow hooks, I never want to push my car again . (Shoutout to thedude411 for the massive help, along with bluecobalt69 and DiabeticKripple the next day.)

Well my first time at the track story is
First run was a 18.3 at 73 Mph major wheel spin
dropped down tire pressure from 34psi down to 26psi
and the best run for the night was a 14.9 at 96mph
mods are cat back exhaust/CAI/ZZP heat exchanger

I hope I don't snap an axle this year. I don't think anybody makes them for the 2.2

Keep working on the launches...I should run better than I do with the mods I have. In my defense I have only been to the track 3 times and never have done any street/strip racing before

my 1st time at the track netted a best time of 14.5
2nd trip was 13.9 @ 110
last trip was 13.8 @ 109 with a 2.1 60'

Even with stg2 rotated mounts i still get some wheel hop, not too bad though. My kdw2s have been decent at the track; don't break traction nearly as easy as my stock tires

our elevation is high up, and his 60' wasnt the best cause hes never raced before, also it was the first night of racing of the year, and the track was super slick. everyone was spinning

Not so much the not raced before as the lack of traction. I can launch pretty good, but that place was ruthless . (I did however, enjoy the track more than the street),

My best 60' was a 2.521 and that was a 15.272 @ 89.37, I didn't know when to slowdown cause nobody explained exactly what was going on and let off early here.

My best time was 15.230 @ 97.20 with a 2.567 60'.

SowcobaltLT, did the tire pressure make a huge difference?

So did the wheel hop break the axle? Or did it just snap at some point?

The wheel hop broke it, I didn't even have time to back out. Hopped twice and snapped.

Welcome to the Broken Axle Club. Busted my drivers side on my first pass on slicks. Since then i added the ZZP Stage 3 so no busting there anymore.
