First Time at Track(need help understanding slip)

I am at work so I can't post the actual slip, but I will give you the numbers.

.1195 reaction
2.4795 60 ft
6.4826 330 ft
9.5991 1/8 et
78.81 1/8 mph
14.553 1/4 et
99.01 1/4 mph
1.588 finish margin

So, are these good times, and where could I make improvements? Oh, I had the lowest ET out of the Cobalts that were out last night. Sorry, but I am a noob to drag racing.

Just thought of some additional info: I didn't do a burn out before each run and my lunch was at about 2500rpms. Also it was a hot and humid night with my IAT2s running in the 160-170 range.

60" time, um wheel spin much?

Thats the only area in which I can see you need to work on. Don't blow the tires off and you should see a 14.4 maybe even a 14.3.

lol. I'm just messing with ya lee. Thats honestly a really good time. Especially for the weather.

I think your reaction time was good. Not that it matters at that track though, they don't start your time till you cross the starting line. But that 60 needs some work. (my 60's were the same) If you get some DR's and those cooling mods your planning on getting, you should be in the mid 13's when it gets a little cooler outside.

I don't know what the other guy was talking about when he said you were sleeping, but you were not and that is a pretty respectable reaction time. Try to avoid doing a burn out if you can. On street tires it will not help you at all. I aways try and go around the water box if possible and then just give it some gas up to the line and if there is any water on the tires that should spin it off. You should be able to run around a 14.2 with a stock car. Work on the launch and shifting and you should be there.

yeah id assume you were on a .000 tree. Thats a pretty good reaction time, one tenth of a second. Your 60ft needs work, looks like your spinning or hopping. Lower that 60ft some and i could see a low 14 second pass. Every tenth of a second taken off in the 60ft equals 2 tenths in the 1/4 ET

Well then I really need to do some work. I am running a 2.7, intake and catback, but then again everyone says they run slower times at this track. I have been avoiding doing the burnouts and side stepping the water box.

I'm doing a little of both.

your 60ft and 330 are bad
you should be breaking into the 5.9s at the 330 with your mods quite easily.
your losing well over half a second from your launch.

what rpm are you launching at? whats your tire pressure at?

I roll out and kick it slowly. I had the same mods and could hit a mid 13 easily. Then again, I had about 150 passes at the track. Another thing, Richmond seriously sucks, VMP is better and MIR is even better.

You're pretty brave making fun of someone that eats lunch at 2500rpm. I wouldn't mess with him. LOL.

Damn 2500 hundred, even though thats what most ppl on here launch at is seem like. I just launch like you would at a light but hard. It gets me 2.2 all the time stock or at least with catback. Should try it though and see what it does for you.

Tell that to one of your yellow comrades. He only manages a 15 flat from an idle or low rpm launch.

I am goin to try it at 1500 and idle next time I am at the track.

Wait a tick???

Are you running a 2.7" pulley? Are you tuned, do you have larger injectors? That trap is very low for that size pulley. Trap is right on for stock. Which is it?

I am running a 2.7 tuned with intake and exhaust. I am seeing that the trap speed is low for my mods, but everybody that is running at Richmond with the same mods as me are posting low numbers.

What is the elevation at Richmond and what was the weather like? Both can play a huge part.

A 2.0 60' is excellent for a FWD car on street tires. For you guys it seems even a 2.1 is really good.

I pulled a 2.226 on my 4th pass ever in the car, it was the first and only time I was at the track. I think with some more practice I can get a 2.1 out of it. I ran a 14.08 with stage 2, 2.9", DP w/cat, catback, ingalls, and tires with 2300 on them.

They elevation is only a 167', but the temps are in the 90's right now. I don't know what the humidity is, but it has been high.
