GM Stage kits are not weak!!!

Hit the local track today and ran my best E.T. to date. Running GM Stage 1 and the 2.7 Billetflow pulley. People considering the Stage kits but heard that the GM Stage kits are weak should check the slip below.

Only had 4 runs but I know that I could trim the 60 ft. a little lower and get a 13.2 - 13.3. The trap speed indicates all you need to know.

No offense to the people with stage kits, but usually they'll compain about the kit being weak when its their driving thats weak. They just blame it on the kit for not performing, before anyone says you dont drive an ss, 2 different cars, keep this in mind. My bro's srt-4 has stage2 and 300whp, but he only clicked off a 14.2@98 cause his driving sucks. he could always claim the stage kit for his car sucks ass, but i drove the same car to a 13.4@103. But your all free to make your own assumptions about the kits...

Nice. I guess the 2.7" pulley will work well with the GM kits. Now to get this damn clutch issue solved.

That's a really good time. I find it hard to call your car simply a Stage 1 or a Stage 2 car when you are running a 2.7. Awesome time any way you look at it.

Absolutely right...the GMPP Stage kits are not weak. The Ingalls ETB is a different story on the other hand. Good times (both ON and AT the track)

I was a little disappointed with my ET but VERY happy with my trap speed

14.40 @ 102.86 mph

Sweet. I should be getting my stage 1 kit put on next week (if I get it which I should) and install my 2.8 the following week.

No tuning aside from the GM reflash. It runs a bit lean at the last 200-300 RPM but it's fine. It pulls like a bat out of hell until that point. I know it's not a true Stage kit anymore but it is still the stage reflash. 107 MPH is good for a low 13 sec E.T. and 13.0 if I can get the 60 ft. to under 2.0 secs. The 2.9 or maybe even the 2.8 are perfect for the GM reflash IMO. HP tuners would be needed to get the 2.7 to run perfectly but I have other priorities now

Nice job but i have one question, why spend the extra money on the GM kit when you can get aftermarket stuff to go faster for less money??

Please don't say warranty because you voided yours by installing the 2.7. Just curious as i'm trying to figure this market out

Huh?? Intense PCM Stage 4 - $199.95 (plus core charge $199)
42.5 lbs Lucas injectors - $159.00
Harness - $ 49.00
TOTAL - $407.95
GM Stage 1 - $425.00

Difference of $17.05 - (not including core charge for PCM so by the time you pay to ship it out ans wait for a check I think I'll pay the extra $17.05 and have GM reflash my PCM)

As far as pulley's go, they're a dime a dozen so I won't even go there.

I went with the GM reflash because it was the first kit available that was a true flashable tune. I didn't like the idea of using a MAF translator to tune the car (no offense intended to Intense or you, Rob) If the Intense Stage 4 pcm was available in February it may have been a different story. For me to sell the Stage kit and get the Intense HP tuners PCM does not make sense to me as the trap speed between your time and mine is 2 MPH, so from an economical standpoint it doesn't suit my goals at this time. Don't get me wrong, 110 MPH is very quick People are so hung up on dyno #'s and when they see Intense=272 hp and GM Kit=240ish they think that the GM kit is alot slower but this timeslip proves otherwise. It's awesome that Intense and Hoosier are developing the tuning for this car and the bottom line is both are great kits with the slight edge to HP tuners PCM simply because it has full PCM access and will build upon what GM has done. Even the HP tuners PCM from Intense needs to be dyno tuned to be spot on, it's just opens another can of worms for me by needing 2-3 hours of dyno time to gain maybe 2MPH and .2 secs? I set a goal to run mid 13's and since I hit it, my car is done. If I don't stop here it will get out of control As for the warranty issue, it was gone the day I picked up the car

great run!
I wonder why there's such a variation in trap speeds between you and me?
I ran 13.6 @ 101 and all of my 60's are sub 2.0, I can't figure out why my trap speeds aren't higher, usually 98-101....

Running on BFG Drag radials @ 20 PSI, very little wheelspin off the line but the hoosier's will hook better. Trap speeds, I couldn't tell you man but the car is running really strong right now. With a 2.0 short I'm sure I can get a 13.2 or 13.3.

I didn't know you were on Drag Radials, I thought this was on street tires. Make me feel better about my 13.8@103 on street rubber with my old school Intense stage 3. Are you heating up the DRs? Have you tried any other pressure settings? Just wondering if experimenting with these things would help drop the e.t. some.

Decent burnout but it all comes down to the driver, with a little more seat time I'll get that 60 ft. to a 2.0 or better.

Hey Ninja, I was looking at your mod list and noticed you don't have a header or a downpipe, you think you could increase your times with a nice header downpipe combo.

First off, nice time, all though its not a GM stage kit. Second off, I think the GM stage kits need to be... unlocked. If you put a gm stage kit on a car with stock intake and stock exhaust, it doesn't really give you the power it could. Last night I beat a guy who was stock with stage 2. We raced from a 60 roll on the freeway, and by the time we reached 100 I was a little more than half a car in the lead! Now I don't know if thats because my car is unusually fast or because his is unusually slow, but it was a fair race and I won. I'm thinking because my car moves air more eficiently, his may move MORE air, but not as good as mine.
