Going to the 1/8th mile

ahh, I'm not one to usually make a thread like this, but I'm really excited about tomorrow. I'm going to the local 1/8th mile track. My best, in Kansas City at the 1/4, is a 8.8@80mph. I usually run a tad slower at here in omaha at the 1/8th. But we'll see. My 8.8 was the one and only run. The car had more in it.

Main reason I'm excited is because I'm trying out weight reduction to see if I can get a new personal best. I also found out that I have previously let too much air out of the slicks. So I should grip pretty good now that I know the proper pressure to put in them.

My goal for tomorrow night, 8.5@81mph with a 1.8 60ft, which will be a new record for stock pullied lsj!

I wish you the best of luck. Hopefully you meet your goals. What all are you taking out to help reduce some weight? My best 1/8th is 9.0 just on street tires with a 2.2 60'. You get your slicks all set up right I hope you can pull enough traction to get a 1.8 60'. Try to get a video if you can, I would like to see how a cobalt pulls off the line with a sub 2.0 60'. The Cummins that went with us the last time we went was pulling 1.8s and he was in 4x4. He just shoots out of the hole like a rocket. Keep us updated.

Yea, it looks rediculous right now, and I'm not done taking stuff out. I'll post a pic in a few. But I took EVERYTHING out of the trunk. Cept the sub, I dont' have a long enough extension for that, but I'm gonna try to get it out tomorrow.

I too the back seats out, the passenger seat out, the mats, the head rests, the bar that was underneath the back seat. I'm even considering taking a few things off tomorrow, like the front crash bar. But I got to be careful though, Cuz that's what the CXRacing FMHE is mounted too. I may zip tie it to something else to hold it there. I'll let ya know what else I do tomorrow.

Nice. The only things I removed from mine was everything in the trunk. Spare, jack, all the foam, trunk mat, and the sub too. On the scale mine weighed 3034lbs with me in it. I weigh around 155. Not too bad really.
