for next time, when you see the last amber light count 1 one thousand then hit it.i had a pro guy give me that pointer and worked very very well!i launch around 3k to 3500k but im in a modded ls it might be different for the ss versions!what didi you run?
Ive always launched when i saw the last amber come up. Hense why i get .01 r/t's.
Pull up to the burnout pit. make sure your tires are in it..sit for a sec. hold the ebrake in your left hand...do a nice burnout...
while still spinning your tires, let go of the ebrake, and continue to burnout on the dry surface....
Make sure your heater/ac is OFF. Stereo off, windows up (dont wanna be the guy on the starting line when the light goes green and the tech is saying "roll up your window" and you keep saying "WHAT?!")
Pull up until you see the "Pre Stage" light come on...stop. get ready, into position...nudge forward until you see the Pre Stage and Stage light come on....get your rpm's to 2.5k...last amber light, slowly let out the clutch.
DONT PUNCH IT (you will spin horribly)
Drive somewhat aggressively without spinning. at 5kish rpms..punch it and power shift like no other.
Stay on it until you are 100% positive you passed the finish line (ive seen tons of people let off 1-2 sec before)
immediately turn on your heater to full blast...cruise down through the pit lane, get your time slip, get back in line.
Let your heater run, and keep your car off as much as possible (if your running 16sec+ 1/4 mile times...dont be the guy who has the hood up and 3 of his friends pushing it...you look like an idiot)
I normally just pull the hood latch, let it pop up..but i dont open it. Then when i get closer to the front of the line, i shut it. (duh)
Lower your tire pressure, do longer burnouts....its always nice to let your opponent start his burnout first...simply because when you do your burnout, and when you stage..your tires are still at semi optimal temp....make them wait for you, not the other way around.
Dont go making fun of civics that look like **** (i made that mistake..and he ran a 9.9 vs my 15.8)
Be generally a nice guy to people. its a good idea to get out and talk to random people, why? so when you lose horribly or **** up, they wont laugh at you as much.
Its smart to do between round inspections, such as but not limited too, scanning for codes(if you have a scan tool), checking coolant levels, ensuring your oil dip stick is properly sat, etc.
Good luck at the track!
