Got the Vette to the Strip for the first time!
Just got back from a day o' fun at my local dragstrip, New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. This was my first trip up there in the almost 7 years Ive owned my Vette. With just over 2000miles on my new engine I figured it was time! Ive raced my SS/TC up there numerous times but never the Vette. My brother, friends, and I did a track rental day. Including us and other random people there was a total of about 20 cars, and we had the strip from 1p-5p....and then we stayed for street night until 10pm haha. I made 11 passes total, drove about 100miles round trip to/from the track, and the car held up excellent!
My brother was running his car for the first time, a 2009 Challenger SRT-8 6spd, procharged making 520rwhp/510rwtq. My buddy had his C5, a '99 FRC with a custom built LS with a Paxton Novi 2000 blower making about 1000hp at the crank and 864rwhp.... street driven by the way
Anyways, it was an awesome day! I was more the satisfied with my results. I was mainly happy because I ran good times while spinning on street tires. Im hoping to improve a good amount with some drag radials.
So, heres the break down of the day. I was hoping to get some feedback and advice based on my results....
Best overall 1/4mi ET: 12.983s
Best overall 1/4mi trap speed: 110.35mph (on a 13.1sec run)
Best overall 60': 1.928s (on the 12.9sec run)
Best overall R/T: .013s
Best overall run was my last of the night:
R/T: .081s
60': 1.928s
1/4 ET: 12.983s
Trap: 103.38mph
NOTE: All runs done on BF Goodrich Radial T/A 275/60 15s.
So any input would great. Like I said above, Im very happy... this is at least what I expected it would do, maybe even better considering the tires I was running. Im planning on getting Mickey Thompson ET Street drag radials in 275/60, and I hope with these and a better 60 foot I can get into the very low 12's.

Thanks. The motor is pictured in my sig and I had a thread up here a while back when I was building the motor. I've had the car for about 6 and a half years and have made it into a restomod over that time.
Motor is a custom built 383 stroker on a 1987 350 block. Full roller motor, all forged internals, aluminum heads, 11:1 compression, 540 lift roller cam. The trans is a built 700r4 automatic, 4spd overdive unit. The car is mostly street driven so I went with a stockish 2000rpm stall, ill stick with that for now unless I start racing it more.
I'm looking forward to getting the DRs on there... as long as they don't grenade my rear end!

Plus, the 700r4 has pretty aggressive gearing. 1st gear is 3.06, which coupled with the 3.70 rear, makes it very responsive off the line. Plus I had it built right, it shifts real hard chirping 1-2 and 2-3 all day when you nail it, but shifts smooth while cruising.

oh im not knocking the 700R4, its just not geared the best for the strip. excellent choice for the street. my Nova with teh M21 4 speed and 3:73's is a bit much on the highway, almost 3500 at 70MPH. but she comes out of the hole like a raped ape and everyone loves to watch!

I also upgraded to a rack and pinion set up last fall. Im slowly making the car more and more modern. The next step, once I get sick of the 383, is a full LSx/T56 swap

Hahah .... I know exactly what your talking about ...... My Nova with 4.56's and a M-22 felt like i was beating the car at 60 mph .... I never took it very far because of that . I don't think it can be stalled thou lol It will idle up the steepest hills around hehe.
