GT35R track fail

After tuning my car i wasdying to get back to the strip and put all 381whp to the road. I had high expectations going in but they were smashed. With my rediculous work schedual and lack of track time available I went on a street night this wednessday.

My first run wasn't the worst 1st hit. With no changes execpt pulling the airfilter off. I went 13.3 @117 Good MPH but not what I was going after.

The next 2 runs were pretty pathetic. So I won't mention those.

So after pulling my head outa my ass I started to come around. Still launching, and bogging the car w/o 2 step I got 13.0 @ 118.84 w/ a 2.4 short time on the limiter though the traps. So, I tried an early shift to 4th and went 13.1 @ 116.5with a 2.4 again.

Next I decided to start using L/C @5k. and it started to get better.

2 OK runs in a row. I'll break it down.

2.28---------------------2.25--------------Launch control 5k
8.6@89------------------8.5@90----------29MPH gain on the back side!!
12.9@118.5-------------12.8@118.9-----On the limiter on both 7400 stock motor

@ this time it was about 9:30 and 50* out. Not to mention the poor track prep on a street night. So, I called it quits and threw up the whiteflag. Defeated for this year. My previous best was a 12.6 @112 with the last setup

But, there is always next year. Hopefullythe motor will be ready for 8k and the track ready to hold down the power.

Those are great trap speeds! If you can get the 60' down you will be putting down some great times.

you are definitely making more power, but you are just having problems getting out of the hole. Just don't give up!

The traps are wicked low in the 1/8. But, 29-30mph in the back half doesn't hide the power. I'm having a lot of trouble getting out of the hole without bogging and when the power hits it spins. Getting on the 2 step helped alot. In second gear it will spin if I am out of the grove.

BFG T/A DR's 255/50/16 @ 9psi. They aren't that good.

yea, seems he's having serious traction problems there as well, which could be deflating his 1/8th mph.

get some slicks, that's what's holding you back. those tires may as well be street tires.

yea you are just at the point where you gotta man up and go with slicks. your et and trap will probably improve dramatically

You shouldnt have a problem running slicks, so go for it. I wanna see 11's next year.

I think a few things would help me more than slicks. An 8k redline to start.

Truthfully the 50* temps and poor track prep for street nights, as well as my learning curve driving was a bigger cause for the bad 60's than the tires.

Granted betrter tires would be a plus. The tires now are a huge step from a street tire. I'm debating now oon going to a full slick or a bias ply street tire.
