Damn man, this whole time I really haven't even thought of racin' one but it looks like it's close! Damn this sucks ya know cuz those mustangs have ALWAYS been slow, and now they really aren't...lol so how well do these guys hang?!

A friend of mine has an '03 Tiburon GT - 6 spd. and raced his brother in his '06 V6 - 5 spd. at US 41 Dragway.

The best the Mustang ran that night was 15.77. The Tiburon ran a best of 15.68

Granted, that's an average driver somewhat new to the car (the Mustang) compared to someone who's had his car for 3 yrs (the Tiburon), but should give you a general idea.

Stock for stock the SS/SC should win.

What?? An SS cobalt should be a good run for a V8 mustang, if you are worried about the V6 ones you are doing something wrong.

I've raced several new V8 Mustangs and won and lost but not by much either way. The thing that suprised me is that I have raced 6 seemingly stock 350Z's and have yet too loose? Maybe I'm just getting lucky and going up against bad drivers cause I thought these were perdy fast cars...My car seems to suprise me quite often when I race other vehicles. Now if I could only find a way to beat those damn 1100HP Diesels in town....

I have taken on several v8's and they were all good races many were very close ... some I lost some I won but v6? I don't even bother with them though I did race one and well ... people say he is still on that road thinking he is catching up to me ... that was like a year ago

Lol...guys I'm talking stock vs. stock here....some of you are flamin' me about this for all the wrong reasons, and the ones that are, are stage 2, so yes it could possibly be a fair race..I'm not saying I am actually worried about one, just curious and being cautious...

With stage 2, you should be beating stock 350s. They are all motor, and respond well to basic bolt-ons, but are held back pretty badly from the factory. Just simple breathing mods can pick up 30 hp on those cars, and then they start to get pretty quick for a regular cobalt.

Its a V6 mustang! Arent they like 15 sec cars? You should be able to beat them easily.

V6 stangs dont stand a chance against a stock ss/sc... modified forget it... trust me. As for the V8 stangs.. i have raced a 99 Gt with a ass load done to it, I kept within a car length. The new V8 stang I raced had over 400 RWHP and lets just say that wasnt very close....lol.

v6 mustangs are slow as hell..i don't exactly know how they would even come close to staying with a ss/sc
I got beat by this guy with an automatic 05 v6 mustang from a dig, then we raced from a 30mph roll( i believe the start of 2nd for my car) and his front bumper was at my rear. I don't think they'd stand a chance in hell against a ss/sc, they run 16's though i know that haha

given that he was probably stuck in the middle of a gear with his automatic, i dont' care, i won haha

Slow is relative... 05+ 5-speed V6 Mustangs are capable of high 14's in the 1/4-mile... plenty fast to give your average SS/SC a run for it's money.

All else being equal, the SS/SC is definitely faster, but all else isn't always equal

You know wrong... or you know guys who can't drive worth crap.

Like I said, 05+ 5-speeds are capable of high 14's. Also, '05+ Autos are capable of low 15's, and even the older 99-04 5-speed V6 Mustangs are capable of low-mid 15's. Anyone running 16's in any of those are either in terrible weather/altitude conditions, or they don't know how to drive.

Stock vs. Stock, all '05+ V6's are faster than 2.2's. Period. 5-speeds can go high 14's, and autos have gone 15.0, stock. Of course, anything can happen when you throw the human factor in and mods, but all else being equal, the Mustangs are faster.

Secondly, yes, the 94-98 Mustangs are quite slow. Low 16's would be a GREAT time for a stock 5-speed. Then again, they only have 150hp. On the other hand, 99-04 V6's have 190hp, and while the auto's still run 16's, the 5-speeds are much quicker if the person can drive worth a crap.

My '00 5-speed went 15.5@90 when it was SLOWER than stock and with a crappy 2.331 60'. That's faster than the overwhelming majority of 2.2's, stock vs. stock, if not all.

Again, anything can happen once you throw mods and the human factor into it, but stock vs. stock, all else being equal, '05+ V6's and 99-04 5-speeds are faster than 2.2's based on facts and numbers from MANY different cars, not just a random street-racing video that proves absolutely nothing.

it proves i'm faster..lol, his is a 98 mustang v6 automatic, i kill him everytime we race and it's BAD, i also beat a 5 speed 96 mustang. I've raced a newer one, a 03 i think, and we never actually got results, we were dead even then stopped for traffic, i did beat that 05 v6 mustang automatic..no matter what you guys say, he beat me from a dead stop and then from a 30mph roll(the start of 2nd for mine i believe) i beat him, front bumper to back bumper, but he said" i was stuck in the middle of 2nd" or some crap, i know he'd beat me if we both started in 2nd though lol

friend of mine has an 07 V6 stang and I blew his doors off.

i'm also raced a 97 v8 4.6L, walked him, easily.. then i raced a 2001 v8 4.6 and that was a little more of a challenge, but i still ended up walking him
