I went to HMP...
Well, I went to HMP (Houston Motorsports Parkway..1/8th mile strip) tonight to watch my friend josh run his 03 cobra since he added a few things and got a smaller pulley. I wasn't planning on running at all but since the weather was so crappy there weren't many people there. I took advantage of the quick runs everyone was getting in and decided to take her out and see how she does in the 1/8th mile. I also would get a chance to see how the control arm bushings fair since my last run. After about two runs my CEL came on, it was the P0033. I've gotten this before so I popped the hood. Turned out the "power" connection to the actuator was loose and wasn't even plugged in completely haha. It happened to me when I got my pulley, but I guess I, like and idiot, forgot to plug it in completely. Anyway, w/ the CEL off, Control Arm Bushings, and my tires recently rotated (the others were pretty bald), I ran the following as my best:

This would have definitely been my best had I gone to HRP, roughly a 13.6 range. The control arm bushings were by far one of the best mods I have done to this date. For the first time I was able to launch w/ no wheel hop whatsoever in 1st or 2nd gear (which it was mainly occuring in). The most satisfying thing about this run was the car in the other lane was a mild-bolt on 98 Cobra who was on street tires. I beat him by .05 of a tenth.
It can only get better.

Here's a nice little comparison from my 13.85 1/4 mile run and my 1/8th mile slip from this evening:
HRP 1/4 MILE:
R/T ... .416
60" ... 2.086
330 ... 5.910
1/8 ... 8.976
MPH ... 81.39
1/4 result: 13.854 @ 101.99
HMP 1/8 MILE:
R/T ... 1.069
60" ... 1.975
330 ... 5.623
1/8 ... 8.678
MPH ... 81.91
1/4 result: ??? @ ???
A couple of things I find interesting is 1.) The huge reaction time difference actually helped me launch better as I concentrated on getting the launch down and not the tree. 2.) The mph in the two runs is very similar...which is a little discouraging because it means I'm still pulling the same just getting a better launch.
It would have been interesting to see what 1/4 mile ET that would have been (provided I hadn't missed a gear or anything lol).

Tofu is a baaad mother bleeper. The only strip around where I live for about 4 hours in any direction is in Holt, FL, and it's only a 1/8 mile strip. I'm going to hang onto that 1/8 mile time in the back of my mind as a personal goal for when I decide to run my car.
Very impressive, Tofu.

I'm on stock rubber right now, but it's down around 22psi. I'm pretty baffled @ my trap speed as well. I'm not sure what's going on...

That 2.05 60' in my sig should have been a 1.9x, track was unprepped and it was cold as hell, not to mention I was running all-season sumitomos. hatrickstu can verify that, we were all having trouble hooking. Wish I could get to a 1/4 to see how the car pulls in 4th after the 1000', but Memphis is the nearest 1/4 track.
here's a vid of that run: http://media.putfile.com/205-60ft-894-18th-1138-1000ft
my gf does my **** talking for me btw

I dont mind runing from a stop I can make it up in 3rd. But I'm just not getting my cars full potential with 2.2 60's.
LOL @ "go babe you got em'". I need some motivation like that. Might throw in the wife on the next trip to the track. lol

LOL, good luck man. I have confidence in ya!

It's amazing how much of an influence track prep has on your driving. I've been to the Sealy 1/8th mile a few times and it's just plain horrible.

But you're right, track prep definitely has an influence. Maybe I'll build my own track, theres not a 1/4 in AR at all you know? *rubs chin*
Awesome driving bro ...I cant wait to get my control arm bushing .
You got that right , especially on a greasy radial tire

TOFU awesome job man I knew there was sub 2 sec 60' in these tires... Do you have motor mounts and control arm bushings or just control arm bushings? What is different (construction, shape, material???) about the bushings? Hows the ride and handling with the new bushings?

Awesome times Tofu, my local 1/8th mile opens in a little less than 2 weeks and I'm hoping for atleast a 9 flat. This would be my first time at the track so...yeah. Anyways what other mods do you have other than the control arm bushings? I have Corsa exhaust and K&N intake. Is 9 flat too much to ask?
