INTENSE Stage 5 track times

I just got back from the track...It was so busy I only got a couple runs in.... I ran a crummy 14.2 @ 104. I was really happy about trapping at 104 it shows its potential , and a 14.3 @ 103 but My car still has stock perellis and I got 20k miles on them so they are insanly bald. I spun through first... and alot of 2nd. Oh well. once I buy new tires, Ill be running better. but I just spent all my money on stage 5... lol Hopefully I will get it dynod soon and I will def let you guys know how that goes.

close to it, yea... people have run this stock... they also trap about 6mph slower though... but not for nothing, this is a really bad time for any stage, let alone a stage 5 kit... this is a great stock time... not busting your *****, but just letting you know that there's a lot of room to improve... what were the 60's?

It's gotta be the 60' ant the 1-2 shifts

NO worries though, my last time out (before I blew an axle)

I trapped 105.8, and couldn't get into the 13's

So I'm guessing you had the same kind of traction probs I had

Doesn't DaGrove **** you off sometimes? I would not have gone if I would have none of the 3 hours I spent in line waiting for the nitrous car pro tree runs! That was not scheduled. I think I'm going to Rockford from now on. It's like that almost everytime I go to Great Lakes Dragaway. **** poor track management. I can't believe those IDIOTS didn't open more lanes to relieve the congestion in the goddamn pits! That was plain stupid!

a 104 trap is mid 13's. Learn the launch. Also I would imagine you are spinning all the way through 3rd.

thanks for the comments guys.... my responses are: My 60' times were horrible 2.4's .... I dont need to learn to launch... because I dont launch. I ease it out, and as soon as I stomp on it, my tires cut loose. even if I let go of the gas and floor it again, they cut loose. No matter what I do in 1st gear I spin. Even at a little more than half throttle, they start chirping. Its crazy. I love knowing I have that much power tho. lol also My 1-2 shift is fast, but I had to slow it down because I spin to redline in 2nd gear if I slam it into gear. Even if I ease it out of 2nd gear and then stomp on it it spins for a bit. You guys dont understand how bald my tires are. Its accually kinda funny.... I just dont wanna dish out the money for new ones, but I have to soon. Also I dont have LSD, so that makes it even harder. Im not mad at my times at all, I just cant wait to get new tires! lol

that's why you need to learn to launch! get those 60 fts. down and you'll have some silly good times.. tires will help a lot if they're that bald too...

instead of just flooring it and letting off ease the gas pedal untill you get to the middle of second gear.

I'd say if you stay at around half to full throttle in first and then half start second at half throttle you should be able to hit WOT at around 5500 rpm and third gear should be good to go and pu tthe hammer down.

just a thought give it a shot since you can run a 14.2 @104 there's no reason you cant run a mid 13 at 106

If anything, bald tires should help you hook better! You should have taken her through the waterbox but that is if you have zero tread what so ever! Did you notice all the dew collecting on our vehicles as we sat? That can't help either. My 60 ft. times were no better then 2.305 last night so I think most of us had some issues with traction.

On a radial tire ?!?!?! The total opposite is true . Thatd be like a slick without the traction compound in the rubber which would be like driving on ice .

Given your tires , the mph is good . You got all kinda pedling going on there Once you can get the car down the track better you should see another 2-3 mph or better .

Why don't you guy's just buy a set of slicks? Would really improve your ET and give you some consistancy not to mention it will be easier on your clutch and won't slam as hard when the power hit's. M&H slicks are about $300 and I guarrantee after your first run with them you will realize you were just wasting your time with street tires on the dragstrip.

I witnessed a guy in a stock GSR crack 14.9s with bald tires doing what I'd said in the previous post. Before he went with his baldies, on the same tire with much more tread, he run a best 15.2. After he got new tires, he was right back to doing 15.2-15.4. He's a member of this forum, user name tomt5078.

because if he gets slicks with all that power, he's gonna break his stock axles

Thats exactly what I did on my 14.3 run... I had a lower trap, but almost the same time... Also This was only my 2nd day with stage 5 so Im not use to the power yet, ill practice and get the hang of it. I will be getting new tires soon... before winter. Also I will probably be investing in some drag radials next summer, cause I dont feel like blowing my axles right now.... at least not yet.

The stock axles don't hold up to a little traction? If this is the case I would get some custom ones from the Driveshaft shop. I got some that are rated at 600HP for my Dodge and I can dump the clutch at 5K with boost building and nitrous with no wheel spin with a race weight of 3,325. Something tells me though your stock axles can handle 275 WHP- sure somebody will break an axle every so often but I have seen enough mosers and strange units break at the track to know this is just part of drag racing and you will break stuff sooner or later.
