Interest in a new racing event
Hey guys,
I'm half new here, as it's been over 2 years since I posted on here regularly.
I have recently started a new business venture with a few of my best car friends and businessmen. We are VERY interested in creating a new racing event for 2011. The basic idea is listed below.
Drag Racing event open to any General Motors car that was ORIGINALLY equipped with a 4 or 6 cylinder production engine, except those that also had a V8 option. This rule will be read as to exclude ANY truck or SUV.
The only exceptions to this rule will be:
-2008-2009 Pontiac G8 GXP
-2005-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP
-All Holden Commodores with original VIN tag
-Any car that ORIGINALLY had a 4 or 6 cylinder production engine, but has had a V8 engine swapped in to replace the original engine
-Any race car manufactured to look like a General Motors vehicle, that is powered by a 4 or 6 cylinder engine that is directly based off a General Motors 4 or 6 cylinder production engine, will be allowed in.
Hoping to have at least 5 classes, including AT LEAST 1 heads-up class.
Cash prizes and trophies for races
Special awards for like "Fastest car driven to event", "Fastest Cobalt", "Best Appearing"
This is the basic idea we have started with and it will continue to grow. Please post any comments/suggestions on here, and also at our temporary forums located at Vision Promotions Messaging Board
Thank you.

The goal is to make this worth the trip for anyone who comes though!

Even the chance at something like a *gasp*$250 first prize (hopefully) for bracket racing and getting to hang out with other car nuts wouldn't be worth it?

We haven't decided where the event would be held yet. While Illinois or Wisconsin would be easier, because I have connections at tracks through my previous racing, anywhere in the Midwest would be ideal so no one has a horrible trip.

Except the West Coasters.
Oh, and the East Coasters.
Well, maybe you'll get some Canadians.
Also, limiting your entrant pool to just "any General Motors car that was ORIGINALLY equipped with a 4 or 6 cylinder production engine, except those that also had a V8 option. This rule will be read as to exclude ANY truck or SUV" when you're trying to start a new promotion is pretty much suicide.
I think it'd be pretty hilarious to read your business plan.
Oh, and
