Kind of disappointed in my Cav.

I know that my cav is stock and I shouldn't expect miracles, but i know people that have run 15.4's in stock form, so I was kind of hoping for a 15.9. I guess that I wasn't the only one that was having trouble though, everyone was having traction issues.

Anyway, my car wouldn't grip worth a damn, i attribute this largely to shitty 205 wide Kumho 711's and the not so good track prep, I was getting 60 foot times of about 2.4-2.6. The best I ran was a 16.308, and my traps were a consistent 83.xx mph. It seemed like when I would shift into 2nd, the car would bog down a lot... are the intake and exhaust on the J-bodies that restrictive??

I plan to go back once I get my mounts put in, and after I at least have a cold air intake. I guess that the times aren't terrible for my first time at the track, but I was expecting myself to do better.

I never got to run my 03 cavy in the 1/4 but I didn't do to bad in the 1/8. I for got my mph but I ran a 9.9 with just a k&n drop in and no jack and spare tire. We were all very surprised.

yeah, thats a lot better than I did lol. My 1/8 mile times were 10.6-10.7. I have an LS cav, so its a it heavier than a base model (sunroff, side airbags, premium cloth), plus I left my spare and jack and all in the trunk..... and I weigh 250 lbs lol. I need some driver weight reduction lol. Anyway, the guys on JBody.org say that a 16.3 is not bad for a dusty track and my first time ever at a track. There was a guy with a turbo TC runnning 14.2's that has slips for 13.4's, so I wasnt the only one without traction.

Ok first off 14.anything from a stock cavi is BULL ****! Anyone tells you that they are full of crap! My cavi. ran a BEST of a 14.7 and that was with a header, 2 1/2 inch custom exhaust, lightweight pully and fly wheel, Injen intake, and a port and polished head!

14.anything for a bone stock ECO powered Cavi.? Yeah someone lying to you.

yea mine was an ls sport, lots of weight for a cavy. I think it is about time to start lightning up the Balt with some carbon fiber and such. As of now I run a 13.5 and the car feels like it has more and if I can work on my traction low 13's will be very easy. My 60' foot times are just as bad as yours(2.4-2.6) but on a well prepped track. That turbo TC must have been moded all to hell for those times. even turbo'd a 14.2 sounds about right from what I have ad herd.

yeah, he had a **** ton done to it. i was talking to him about not being able to hit the 15s and he said that the track was not prepped very well and showed me his slips from about a week ago.

Reign, I am starting to think that the continentals are better than my Kumhos lol. Plus these are quite a bit smaller than stock diameter, and I know that is hurting traction a little bit.

nah, wider tires = more contact = better traction..

get an exhaust, shortthrow & try it again
