Launching issues
...Now I am pretty new to the whole car racing stuff so nobody flame on what I'm going to ask..Basically I had my first chance to run up against this stupid looking Jetta..He honked three times and we were off..basically I had the worst launch..had my RPM's above 5 and just basically burned the tires..after putting it into second gear my RPM's were still way up above five and I really didn't go anywhere...the Jetta obviously beat me pretty bad..Just looking for some advice..thanks guys..
well lower your tire pressure , launch at about 3000 rpms, but remember i killer for our cars is the supercharger , instant boost so instant spin , so feather the gas through first and then lay into it when you shift to second , so i hope that helped a little
Don't worry so much about the tire pressure for runnin on the street. Just don't drop the clutch, ease it out slightly. I say slightly cause if you do it too much, then you will join the crowd of the clutch slippers and that sucks. lol...Launch closer to 1500 or maybe 2 grand, that may help a bit, and don't just drop the hammer, gradually push into it so as to not smoke up them tires
yeah i never launch above 2000 RPMS, thats just a waste of a clutch. And superchargers arent the killers for our cars, dumb kids who dont know how to drive is the killer. Everyone always complains that they cant laucn the car because of low end power, well learn to the drive the car. Its not impossible, just take practice and common sense.

+1. Launching at anything over 1500 results in instant tire smoke for me and low 15 second pass.
1500 is about perfect for the stock tires. Always start small and work your way up as you develop a feel for your car!
this jetta was so weird though..there was this loud noise coming from his engine..he said he cut off the exhaust manifold or something like that...it sounded pretty stupid though..
1500 seems very low to me though..thought at least 2500..

Trust me, 2500 will get you nowhere unless you back off which can disrupt performance. We pretty much have instant boost, so a higher rpm drop is not required. We aren't driving Hondas here. Let the boost do the work for you. My 14.396 and all of my 14.4 passes were done dropping from 1000-1500!

fwd means low rpm launching, rwd drive means higher rpm launching. its a lot easier not to get spin if you pushing a 3000 lb. car rather than if your pulling a 3000 lb car. all the we have on the front tires is a aluminum block and aluminum head with an aluminum tranny case aluminum equals lightweight. maybe if we had more weight on the tires we could get better grip at higher rpms but we dont. but yaah anywhere from 1500-2000 rpms is perfect for launching
I ran my car for the first time with a 1500 launch and was chattering like crazy to the point that my wipers were turning on and my mirror would turn down. I was able to pull a 14.312@102mph aith an average of 14.4 over all the passes.
I am sure there is a 13 pass here once the chatter is resolved.

I ran a 14.8 when my car was still brand new, so I'll have to go back to the track later this year once the car is broken in.
