Hello everyone, went to the track recently and put up a 13.1. ZFR 6758 + all bolt-ons + E47. Anyways, traction is a bit of an issue here. I have an extra pair of LSJ 18" wheels sitting around with no tires. I know there are plenty of people who run slicks/radials for the track. I'm gearing more towards slicks since I have the extra set of wheels and have a place to store them. Looking to dip into the 12s sometime in the future.

Those that do have slicks, what kind/size did you get? I do know that some have run motorcycle slicks since they happen to fit on our wheels. Car is an 09 LNF.

I'm also open to getting 17" wheels and they would have to be the stock 5X110 bolt pattern.

I was looking at those and getting them shaved for drags. Have you ran those before?

Yikes that is pretty pricey. I've heard of some people running motorcycle slicks as some of those fit the SS wheels.

Slicks are your best bet, but you may need to go to 17" to get them. The best setup is to use 15" brakes and a taller sidewall on the slick but you have to lose the brembo's. I believe the 17-18 slicks don't have much wrinkle to them which cuts down on their effectiveness. Drag radials are a good option but they can be finicky, a lot more than a slick. I have 245-45-17 555r's and they grip well provided they are at optimum temp. Believe Hoosier makes a 17" drag radial that's basically a stiffer sidewall grooved slick. You are going to have to be careful hooking up on that zfr with a stock trans. If you go r compound radial get them heat cycled from somewhere like dtd or tire rack.

Thanks Nova. I was looking at Hoosiers and MT which make a radial which will fit the 18s. Chances are I'm going to go to with the radials.

Yup this exactly. I ran Mickey Thompson drag radials and went to a 15" slick this year. The slicks are hands down way better. But running them on a larger rim doesn't make them nearly as effective.

M&h makes a 245/45/17" slick. It is a full on drag slick. Mount those on some redline wheels and you are golden
