My Drag Racing Delima

Ok so only got to run 2 runs... mods are in my sig.

First run ever was 14.9 @ 96
Next run after the rain was 14.6 @ 99 with a .635 R/T and a 2.555 60'

Any tips for me when i race in a few days?

What pressure should my tires be?

what would i run if i had a 2.1xx 60' and a 0.0xx R/T?

high 13's?

Your reaction time sucked but dont worry that will improve and does not affect the time of your run at all. The run is timed from when your car starts moving. I think if you could hit a 2.0x for a 60' you should hit a high 13. Good luck. Hopefully it isnt hot as ass like today. lol.

yeah, we are running in the evening... ideal would be a hot day and a 20 degree evening, i think i got my times mixed up my first run @ 14.9 and 96 had a 2.555 60' and my next run @ 14.6 had a 2.4 60' and i gained 3mph and 3 tenths. so iam hoping if i can get a 2.0xx 60' it will pay off.

Any recomendations on tire pressure, hints tips?

Try dropping your pressure down to about 25 go for a run or two, and then adjust from there. It will go back up after the first run. Also, bring the rears up to about 40-45. It wont hurt them and it will help transfer weight to the front wheels.

I believe it is every 1/10 on the 60' is like 2/10 at the end.

Rev to 2k and ease out the clutch. Don't dump it, and don't ride it. Find that perfect balance between the two. Remember, you want to be accelerating as hard as possible without spinning the tires.

ill be happy if i get a 13.999 even, our elevation at the MHDRA is 2300' we have one of the fastet tracks in Canada. and its NHRA

i am just gonna change the tire pressures and hot lap it and try to get down my 60's

I was dumoing the clutch and spinning like hell! but it was my first time in the car, other than that i raced my civic SIR and you had to dump it so its a little hard to adjust...

i think ill get it i just need to calm down and launch it right

one of the fastest. iirc, the fastest track is my home track, mission raceway in bc, we are 32' above sea level, corrected altittude is often around -800'.

back on topic, the general rule of thumb is for every 0.010 of the 60' time is worth 0.020 at the top end. as thats not 100% true, its a rule of thumb that works ok. if you can get a 2.1 60' you should be in at least the low 14s.

whoever told you MH is a fast dragway, was lying

unless they have a way up there to drop the DA about 3000ft on drag nights

yeah 60' matter so much for cobalts. friend of mine had stage 2, DP, intake, Ingalls and with a 1.94 60' ran a 13.6 @ 105. but he is one of the best drivers around here and races his cars many times a year. just work on your 60' and ease into it off the line

I suck at launching too... I'm at 800 ft asl in winnipeg...

I ran 14.4 at 102 with a 2.6 60'...... Yes. Traction and driver mod needed lol. That was Stage 2 as well. I guess your elevation is hurting your times?

Get some drag radials... you could ht 2.0 60' and see how it does

you are where my car was stock. I doubt you can touch 14 flat with that low trap. There might be something wrong with your car also.

We need to see if you lose ***** in the last 1/8

p.s. reaction time means nothing in test and tune runs

p.s. im REALLY sick of *people* crying about altitude. It takes 18,000 feet for the air to be half density at air level...you are at like...2-3k. so do the math. you are supercharged. You can suck in air still.

Plus, Id say extreme humidity (florida) is worse than SLIGHTLY thinner air.

Not enough to cut off 5mph. When you have more mods than myself

I think his car is getting a little dead after the 1/8th

air pressure by itself. thinner air the higher you go up. yes it does affect things. heat and humidity do as well. we all know this.

now, i personally think there is something else that is going on that is not being said.

Yah he must be lagging in top end or heat soaking...

My stage 2 consistenly picks up 22.5 to 23.0 mph in the back half and I'm always trapping around 102.

And I can't launch... so if I did launch really good, I would also pick up less in the back half probably.
