took the Cobalt to the track (1/4 mile) on Saturday and finally got an idea on where I need to start with the work on my car.

First run:
Car #587
Reaction: 0.138
I1: 2.587
I2: .000
I3: 10.321
ET: 15.661 @ 92.296

Second run:
Reaction: .368
I1: 2.616
I2: .000
I3: 10.350
ET: 15.632 @ 95.149

Third Run:
Reaction: .221
I1: 2.767
I2: .000
I3: 10.676
ET: 16.029 @ 94.013

Fourth Run:
Reaction: .600
I1: 2.627
I2: .000
I3: 10.230
ET: 15.472 @ 95.895

Last Run (the catastrophe)
Reaction: .353
I1: 2.954
I2: .000
I3: 13.047
ET: 20.558 @ 57.058

on the last run, the clutch slipped so bad that I had to back out and idle her down the track... i figured that was a good time to quit. :P

i tried launching low, high and in the middle... i just can't seem to get a bead on the way this car wants to launch. On top of that, when i did get it to go in 1st, and then banged into 2nd, it started spinning in 2nd... the kid next to me had an 06 G85 SS on 16" slicks... His times were retarded fast. He was almost into the high 12's. Of course, he was laughing his ass off at me. But at least now, I have an idea of where to go first.

Clutch
torque brace
cold air
stage 2
short throw (just because it looks awesome)
and then go from there...

Personally, I would keep trying to improve my times before I added more power. Specifically your launching and 60'. If you are running 2.6 60fts. with stock power how do you think you are going to do adding almost 35whp? Again, just my opinion. Clutch, I can see upgrading if it is slipping.

Good luck!

you don't need power mods at all. you need traction mods and a lot more practice. trapping mid 90's is good for 14.6-14.8 with a 2.0-2.2 60ft. with slicks, you could be low 14's. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. I launch at 2500rpms and quick slip the clutch. as soon as I feel it grab traction, I floor it. Good luck.

i figured as much... my first moves are clutch, lightweight flywheel and a set of slicks... after that, it will be all engine modifications.

Question for you, ralli... Does your engine feel like it's moving around alot during launch?
