Need a quick answer before I make a fool of myself...

So, there's a street car competition down at the Kanawha Valley Drag Strip. There's seperate classes supposed to be all the way from full on drag cars to plain street legal cars. I'm not sure If its seperate for FWD cars or not. Its a 50 dollar buy in and a 1000 dollar cash prize. I thought it might be worth it just to go and run my car about 10 times down the track. Biggest problem is its an 1/8th mile. I will probably crank my rear coil over dampner settings all the way up so they won't squish as easy. You guys think I have any chance in hell of having fun since its 1/8th mile?

Edit: Also was going to drive to a shell about 30 miles away and fill up on 100 octane for a lil boost in power.

Well, the track was shitty, def not set up for doing what they wanted to do. There were classes for cars with street tires and drag radials. Unfortunately there was no front wheel drive class and I was the fastest fwd there since there was just a stage 2 07 GTI and 2 RSX-S. So yes I was stuck in the RWD class. I did how ever run one RSX-S during test n tune with a built engine and got my ass whooped because I was still spinning at the 1/8th mile mark but didn't want to let off because I was still on his ass. That is launching at 2 grand because there's just no point at anything higher. As soon as I take off traction breaks loose so if I ever go there again Drag Radials/Slicks are a must.

These races were bracket races in separate classes and if you ran over a 7.5 in the class I was in, you were disqualified. That's pretty fast but still yet I could have whooped 3/4ths the cars there.

Only got 4 runs in and my 3rd was my best. This was also my 1st time ever actually racing on the strip. Been before but never on the strip. 1st real race I lost so I was matched up for death from the start and it was a new 5.0 but as before, I was right behind him....still spinning.... Was talking to him before that and he had a tune, .373s and an intake and was trapping 87mph.

3rd Time vs a mid 90's Mustang Cobra -

I am Nick. Been a cobalt owner intermittently since late 09. And I mean the drag strip on 35 not 33. I live in the Charleston area. I also found out later that it didn't cost $50. Was more like $35 if you entered the jackpot. There was also no $1000 prize like I had thought....they just throw money in the pot like street racing.

Yeap, that yellow SS i almost bought at WV Auto Sales and that white 4 door I've seen a bunch cause my mom lives out in cross lanes. Seen the red one only once or twice in cross lanes and I've seen you a couple times when I was around the South Ridge area. Surprised you guys don't cruise with Cody, the guy with the Sport Red Tint Coat SS in Cross Lanes.

Got the 100 octane all the way up in Gauley Bridge. Was bored and figured I'd see how big of a difference it would make without being tuned for it. Was significant, a good 10-20hp.

Bought another 1 just like it but better suspension, better engine bolt-ons, and has RPD and USB unlike my old one.

Hahn Cool Ram Intake, Hahn Charge Piping, MPx Intercooler, ZZP Catless DP, MPx Catback, MPx Catch Can and I'm ordering a meth kit soon from cooling mist along with driving to BYT to get it dialed in.
